Definitely would need multiple pickups or box truck. How long were you gone? Who knew when/how long you would be away?

Pretty standard fare these days. This is basically ransomware, and unfortunately usually comes from a country where about the only direct response answer would be Seal Team 6.

If there is a good part to this is the crooks are relatively "honest" in honoring their payout. If they weren't the (dirty) business model wouldn't work very long.

That said, I'm willing to bet for 10K they could get their website completely rebuilt from scratch. Probably being a little greedy in this case.

10k did seem kinda steep for ransom. Seemed like you'd try to beat replacement cost. I guess the time the website is being reconstructed will lose money from lack of sales assuming dealers don't hold inventory. Hopefully they have an external backup

If they don't have backups especially of public facing servers then they should just pay to have the site rebuilt and call it a learning experience.

I would never trust a server that had been compromised, ransomed, and then returned.
