The market will determine if he's asking too much. I bet it sells within a week. 500kms is a couple of weeks driving. Some people won't want to wait six months for a car. It might not be worth it to you but I guarantee it will sell. We had an offer $5k over retail for a Golf GTI demo with 500kms. People will pay what they see as value because at the end of the day its a shit load of car for $40k and 500kms on the clock.

They're not selling it at all. "THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR SALE-TEST DRIVES ONLY!", from the Car Sales description.

I think that's the issue with the backorders and stock, everyone wants a manual but they built the initial allocation to expected trim/transmission split

No idea why manufacturers continue to get that wrong... Subaru did it when they brought the auto back to the STi, they hung about for AGES until the eventually seemed to rebalance what they were landing...

The DSM pack said the initial sales plan was split 50/50 (grade & trans)
Expected to move 1500 units this year, with a 3 month wait for orders

The truth would more than likely be that Australia was allocated a certain number of autos which they accepted to get the numbers up. Its the same reason the Tiguan now has 6 speed auto after the factory couldn't guarantee supply of the DSG. Average stock is better than no stock.

Don't know if anyone has seen the first article on ft86club.com
I quote

The most popular version was the “S” and 70% of the orders are manual transmission. Kimihiko Sato, BRZ Project Manager added that: “Even though we have a full production at the Gunma Plant, if you place your order now, the expected delivery date will be in March or April of the year 2013.”

So 2 years is definitely off the mark, but 9 months if you place an order now is a reality. That's straight from the Gunma manufacturing plant.

And what market is that for? Everyone? Japan? USA? Australia? Everyone got their own car numbers allocated.

And he would commenting based on the orders already in their system. They know how many they can build. He wouldn't make that statement without proof. Production is a game of time vs quantity. They could more or less tell you when car number #5000 would come off the line. The efficiency of these facilities is second to none.

I've heard everything from 4 months to 10 months. I ended up putting my order in, but put a caveat that I can pull out if it takes too long. If it's going to take 10 months, I think I might change my mind about the car.

I'm hoping they will give me the model tracking info soon. How long did it take for those of you who have ordered to receive their tracking numbers?
