Is this actually going to make it to the markets?! What's the point... don't get me wrong we need more rwd jdm cars but the frs is better in every aspect other than weight and size which the frs isn't far off. Maybe someone has a different opinion on it. Let me know what you guys think of it.

You are a genius! I didn't know they would fit. I found a super cheap pair and they look amazing! I'm guna plasti dip them white to go with my white frs thanks!

There is a whole thread dedicated to this someplace. It is still just a concept with no real news since the spring. There is still no confirmation that it will be made at all much less come over here. The odds of them importing them even if it gets made are remote anyway.

Down-sizing for winter has never made sense to me. Maybe I'm just thick. Maybe it's just the things I value are different from the way others see it.

Each year I DREAD the day when I have to switch to winter tires. I put it off as long as possible, not wanting to take the performance hit until absolutely necessary. Picking a taller sidewall and narrower tread would make the decrease in performance even worse. Even where I live (more snow than most people, for sure) I drive on clear roads way more often than not. MAYBE I give up a small amount of traction on a few real snow days, but my driving in those conditions is more limited by the others on the road than it is by the conditions themselves. So, no, down-sizing just doesn't appeal.

I use a studless snow tire (not one of the "performance" snow tires, which seem to be only slightly better than all-seasons) in stock size. Dry and wet grip is less than with the summer tire, of course, but not as noticeable as a narrower tire would be.

It's all about physics. Wider tire sizes have to plow through the snow which causes more resistance and a tendency to float. A narrower option, with a smaller contact patch, has more weight per square inch that helps the tire cut through the ice and snow.

In addition to the increased winter capability, there are other advantages to a minus size winter / snow tire. In most cases, narrower tires have a lower price tag. The advantage will apply in cases where you're purchasing a Winter / Snow Tire & Wheel Package with smaller diameter wheels. By decreasing the wheel diameter there's an increase to the tire's sidewall that keeps the overall diameter very similar between the two size options. As an additional benefit, the extra sidewall provides more wheel protection from damages that can occur from a pothole.

Blizzak WS80 205/50 on stock wheels - would have gone even narrower but n/a for this tire on that wheel.

In the dry it feels . . . soft, gummy almost - new respect for the mediocre and much maligned Prius rubber.

But I gotta feeling it's gonna kick ass when it snows.

Speaking of snow, my snow button doesn't work - I've pushed it a bunch of times and it never snows.

I did 205/50 Hankook iCept Evo 2 on the stockers, put them on last week. This is first time I have used winter tires on any car, it doesn't feel right. I hate the hit to the performance and to the MPGs.

Well there's your problem! You have to push and hold for 10 seconds to make it snow.
