If they didn't have sale, I'll prob did same with with others and went with 16's, cuz it's cheaper.

Oh I have no doubt about it. I wasn't using my stock wheels and tire shop had a sale, so went this route

I used my stock wheels with WS80s the first year, and they were great.

But then my friend beat me ice racing with 16" wheels and narrower tires, so I downsized the next winter. The difference wasn't immense, but it was noticeable; both in terms of performance and tire cost. haha

Well it didn't help that there were 1,273,890 & 1/2 different styles of wheels I wanted and never made up my mind so just decided on sticking with the stock ones for the summer.

I don't think the sidewall height has anything to do with the tire's ability to dig in - that's simply a function of width. The extra sidewall IS nice in the winter though, since the roads tend to get ruined and the increased profile makes for a more comfortable ride.

Ya I may have used the term "dig in" poorly. It is really just a matter of having more tire and less steel for several reasons. Sort of like why tractor tires are huge but the rims are small.

Nope.
I may not have to drive so much when it is time for my next car and then it is hello Porsche or Jag. I will then just appear here every once in a while to see how the peasants are doing!

That would be way down the list. Now if I still need a disposable car then it would stand a chance.
