But either way, that's my unprofessional opinion on the matter. I'm not sure how many coats it was but for $1000, it's a bit of a rip off for even 2 coats. Most of the money is in the preparation and the materials used to decontaminate and prep the paintwork before applying the opti-coat.

EDIT: Regardless, don't take my word for it. I'm not working for Bright Shine. Call them up and ask them for a quote and a confirmation!
Nah mate, Opti-coat (or Opti-guard pro version which is what you would have got) is a ceramic coating. Think layer of glass. You can't actually add extra layers once the Opti-coat has cured, it won't bond to itself. It has to be layered within 30 minutes of the previous coat if you're going to layer it, but no need. One coat is more than enough for years protection, and more layers don't really give a better look.

Opti-coat is the strongest of all coatings or 'paint protection' as people like to call it, with years of proven durability. You certainly got the best mate, you'll enjoy it for years to come.

Your right about pricing. Most is for time spent detailing your car. You can buy Opti-coat for $90 here in Australia if anyone feels they're up to the task of doing it themselves.

Jump on www.detailparadise.com.au if you are into detailing! :happy0180:

Just find another detailer.

Good evening everybody.

Considering the sheer amount of interest that has been expressed either through this forum or via direct enquiry to myself, I thought I would take this opportunity to join this excellent forum and contribute wherever I can regarding paint protection (Opti Guard).

It is truly a remarkable and unrivalled product in this market segment producing a fantastic deep shine and very high abrasion resistance (9 on the mohs scale of mineral hardness to be exact).

Once again I'd like thank you all for the interest shown and keep those questions coming.

Regards,

Frank

If the paint feels rough or has obvious imperfections we will clay bar the vehicle, followed with a finishing compound. Clay barring causes micro swirls and for this reason if the paintwork is smooth we will foam with an APC, followed by a wash with Iron X Gel to decontaminate.

from what I have read $450 would only be 1 layer of opti-coat. can you confirm Ravine how many coats you got.

whereas here in WA its priced at two layers only and you have the option to go three layers for more
One layer is more than enough to give you a lifetime warranty. The law of diminishing returns applies after the first coat.

If the second coat is not applied within half an hour, the first coat will repel the second coat.

It is - but only marginally. My paint thickness gauge showed a 0.25 micron increase for the second coat, compared to 2.1 microns for the first.

Nice, i have Fuji Red also, i'll try and get some pics up soon! I originally wanted Black but then i knew i'd spend more time fussing over it and the misses persuaded me to get red, so who was i to argue.

I had mine opti coated by Scott at Superior Shine, man this guy knows a lot of technical stuff about different paint protection products lol, i can highly recommend him! http://www.superiorshine.com.au/paint-protection.html

A family friend picks up hes 86 in a week or so and hes getting hes opti coated straight away too.

I did a bit of research before i bought the car and wasnt prepared to get stung by the dealer crap again and i have read nothing but good stuff about opti coat so i have no doubt it will do what its meant too!
