Yes, it is totally worth it. It is the best bang for you buck, especially when you have a UEL header.
I have an OFT without any other mods (yet) and I am amazed how much different the car feels and drives. Even the exhaust note is different

It makes the car much "peppier" all around and a noticeable gain in the butt dyno. I have ran the OFT on Stage 2 91 and Stage 2 E85 at the track over 5 times. I had 0 issues. I have put over 40k DD miles on my car with the OFT and it has had 0 issues. If you don't have a header yet, get that after the OFT when you can afford it. It will add a lot more power to the top end. If OFT + Header isn't enough for you switch to the E85 tune and you'll feel even more power. I have been running my OFT Stage 2 tune for over 1 year with no issues. I took it off for a month while I was doing some maintenance and couldn't believe how dull the car felt stock. Note I don't work for OFT nor am I sponsored. I have just had a good experience with the OFT all around. All other plug and play tune options available for our car are garbage when compared to the OFT. Trust me I have spent the money on them and was very disappointed. I was considering to buy an OFT too. Everyone says good words, but keep in mind that you'll run much leaner (less fuel during high engine loads). This means higher engine temperatures. It should be fine if you don't push the car a lot, but in other cases you should have consequences ...

Oft tune generally run a bit rich stock tune is super rich oft tunes like all other aftermarket tunes run leaner than stock higher rpm. but oft tunes run richer than most others. i dont understand where your getting the idea oft tunes runs lean and will cause problems from , it just misleading people on petrol high rpm load stock is about 11, pre MY2017 oft 11.8 , but many will run a little richer lot of other tuners run 12 to 12.5 on petrol new my2017 cars targeting arround 12.5 |

I didn't say that OFT runs lean. I said that it runs leaner than the stock tune.
As you said on high RPM and load, OFT targets 11.8 and stock tune targets 11.0-10.1. OFT stg1 target AFRs: ![]() Stock target AFRs: ![]() Why is this misleading people? Is it wrong saying that a leaner air/fuel ratio will give higher engine temperatures? |

Exhaust gas temps will be hotter if its more lean, which could reduce cat life/efficiency. The engine won't run hotter as the cooling system is decent enough. I guess you could also worry about cooking the valves, but we've yet to hear issues like that.
Don't forget that running more ignition advance will help reduce EGTs

Every NA tune ive seen/logged runs leaner than stock OFT ecutek guys , local BRzedit tuners. As @Kodename47 said this does not always mean higher exhaust gass temps. As many other things are adjusted in tune ie ignition timing valve timing etc. The most likely reason they run so rich is to protect primary cat in exhaust from deterioration over time, most people have swapped out to catless header. most people that get a tune from any tuner, are generally the people that push car hard and track car. We not seeing a huge number of tune related engine failures on NA cars that are tracked and its been three or more years. The early engine problems were primarily due to DI injector fails due knock (on stock tune) with the incorrectly set Transient ignition retard parameter ,which was fixed in most aftermarket tunes, and leter rom revisions. In fact the highest EGT (exhaust temps) I see are when im cruising on highway at light load where your targeting close to 14.7. When im tracking and full throttle on straights (12.5 AFR) my egt is 60C or more lower than when im cruising on highway.. Last edited by steve99; 11-05-2016 at 06:11 PM. |

steve99: are you shure about 1st cat protection being most likely reason? Not for example "safe as possible" tune for whichever shitty fuel that these cars can see worldwide?

Nope not sure, and as you say its also likely its for safety with crappy fuel, or to help if someone accidently puts low quality fuel in the car, might provide some extra knock resistance. very likely when you look at cars running 95ron fuel like this http://datazap.me/u/steve99/south-af...-20-28&solo=28 |
