Is my different point of view on this thread the only reason you want me banned? Or is it because I am a strong believer and hoping that someday a boosted version will be released? If you really want me banned, you have to convince the mods and give them more reasons or cite violations I made.

However, I still do apologize if my opinions and my mechanical knowledge is offending you.

One day I hope a 275hp 250 torque version is released. I hope it has +150 lbs of weight and destroys the drive train from beginning to end, clutch, gearbox, differential, the whole thing within the first year of owning it. I hope that the car is made so fast that you have to brake it from 140mph down to 25mph on a turn because it has so much front end weight that it plows you off the road in either direction.

Combine that with a slight bump in output from 205 to 220 hp and that would be a nice set of upgrades for the next generation car. Sadly they're probably going in the opposite direction.
youre describing a very expensive car

Haha possibly. I think it depends how many of those components will eventually get platform-shared with the rest of Subaru's lineup. The lighter suspension and brake components could make their way into the next-gen WRX, STI, and possibly Impreza/Legacy, as could a lighter chassis with more aluminum and high strength steel. The good thing is reducing weight is beneficial for corporate fuel economy targets which every manufacturer is prioritizing these days. Subaru is already at a disadvantage there with most of their models being AWD. They should at least consider ways to reduce weight across their lineup to compensate.

The more the additional costs can be eaten up by economies of scale, the less the final cost will be to the consumer. Also... let a man dream

Article hits the nail on the head. The car needs more power has been the echo since the first test drive ever of the car. Shouting about how well the car handles and saying it's going to increase the price of the car is akin to your significant other saying you need wash the dishes more often and you saying that you take out the garbage very well and it's going to take more of your time if you wash dishes. Yes you do, and yes it will but that doesn't mean it's not something that can be skipped over.

Having both a turbo model and an N/A model isn't exactly unheard of.

This is coming from someone who owns a NA miata.

What exactly is the point you're trying to make here? Whether or not they offered the NA Miata with a turbo option is irrelevant. If needed, the stronger six speed from the mazdaspeed bolts right up (a benefit that does not yet exist for us) and there are tons of them running around, safely running the original 5 speeds and supercharger/turbocharger kits making high 100's to low 200's at the wheels, and people love them.

A turbo would likely require too many changes to the rest of the vehicle to be cost effective.

I just think it's funny that he is complaining about our cars being underpowered, when he owns something even slower. You would think if anyone else would get the purpose of these cars it would be a Miata owner.

A little more power would be nice, but I there still isn't a new car for under 30k that I would rather own.

That's kind of the point though, isn't it?

He's got an NA Miata but isn't bitching about it.

Why?
