I like the corsa with a UEL. You can keep it tame if you aren't mashing the pedal all the time. There is a bit of drone, but it's definitely livable. On long drives I have my music between 10 and 20 and can keep a conversation going at a normal voice.

That's impressive. I'm completely stock and I can't have a conversation in the car at a normal voice while on the freeway with the radio off.

The next "bonus" I get (ha ha ha ha ha....) I'm hoping to add some actual sound proofing to the car.

Its pricey and heavy as fuck fyi. I felt my music was being drowned out by road noise. So I looked into that too then I got a sub instead. Made my music 1000X better, wasn't the road noise after all. In your case, where you feel is too loud to talk with no music then you don't have a choice

Which is why it will wait for "bonus money". Spending $500-$600 on a car that I'm in for two hours a day is worth it to me.

What does your sub and box weigh? What are we talking about for some sound proofing, 50lbs? Less than 2% of the curb weight? Realistically we're talking about 1/3 of a normal passenger. It's not really all that much weight unless you are tracking your car and looking for the absolute fastest times possible.

Fair assessment. I could live with it but eventually I'll do something about it. You'd be surprised how much constant loud noises will drain you physically and mentally.

My sub is about 30lbs but is easily removed. The sound deadening I was looking at was 50+lbs. Honestly people freak out about much less(1lb lighter wheels and such). If I drive my car more it might become a priority again but my 5 minute commute obviously isn't worth it

If I ever get around to doing a rear seat delete, I think I'm gonna put a shotgun rack back there

NO ... I wouldn't be surprised ........ it's 6:45 PM and our 3 granddaughters just got picked up. I took the 3 month old in to change her poopy diaper, just to be in a quiet room for a few minutes.

Actually, someone DID follow me to my house recently. Motherfucker seemed to want to race, and I condemn street racing. Wasn't having it at all. I he stopped at my little entrance to all the houses where I live. I was ready to square up. He slowed down and revved the piss out of his car and took off.

But I just want to be able to transport rifles in my car in a secure way

Dang, I got the Corsa due to it having absolutely no drone at all. Oh well.. sacrifices shall be made if I do go that route.

No drone with stock stuff. When you start deleting cats or resonators, you gotta expect to compromise on something.
