So, I have M&Ms in my office, as a common courtesy to my coworkers (They're provided by my company, I'm just a broker). Its just a large bag, with a zip-seal on it (kind of like a ziploc bag). Problem is, we have a guy who works here (lets call him "Brent") who, on a consistent basis, comes in, grabs a handful, and walks out without resealing the bag. We have a mouse & rat problem here currently, and hes been asked quite a few times now to seal the bag back up, obviously to no avail, as he did it again a few minutes ago. He was warned that if he keeps this up, the M&Ms will be taken away, which I just did (I just put them in my desk, not under lock or anything, just trying to prove a point).

Problem is, "Brent" has problems. He's a 40-something guy who never really grew up, in that he never really takes responsibility for his own mistakes (and wow has he made alot of them, most of which I know because he brags about them). And when someone challenges that and tosses blame (legitimately) his way, he reacts much as you would expect someone like he would--with anger and denial, sometimes bordering on outright hostility including physical threats.

Why is he still employed here, you ask? Well, he's never actually *done* anything other than blow his top and threaten, so my boss won't fire him--yet. He's been on the edge of losing his job numerous times (more often for abusing his vacation time), and each time gets him a bit closer to going over that edge.

So, to bring it back full circle, should be interesting to see what his reaction to losing his "eM's" is.
