Saturday 29/10/16

Let me start my story about what I "did" to my 86. It wasn't exactly "today" but it's close. Had to take some recovery time.

Okay so first up, I'm heading to a Dyno Day for one of our local Aussie state 86/BRZ clubs. It's about 2.5 hours up the road from where I live. In 'Straya we call that around the corner ;D
About 1hr up the road, the car stops. Felt like loss of fuel but no fuel light was on or anything. Yes it was low, but it wasn't super low. Get on the phone to my mum, she isn't able to help but has a friend in Tweed who might. I start the wait.

Got on the buzzer to Zach at Delicious and he talked me through some diagnostics to see what we could find, incase it wasn't a lack of fuel issue. Conclusion was lack of fuel but to check the fuel pump and make sure it was still seated properly. My fuel pump has failed me 8 times so I'm a master of removing it. 5 minutes later have a look and the carrier system looks good BUT the fuel level in the tank, sitting on a flat road, wasn't even as deep as my pinky finger. I'm inclined to think no fuel still.

Chucked in some E85, off we go!! Made it to the dyno day though fairly late. My car was pretty much straight on the dyno. I was nervous, didn't want it to blow. I knew we would probably have traction issues due to still rocking stock sized tyres. 18 PSI was no good, no traction available. So we downed it to 16 psi and still had some issues but got a read. Here is the result

So here's the facts:
Well heat soaked engine
heat in the dyno room as about 37 to 40 degrees Celsius (around 100F) and humid
traction issues
Low reading Dyno Dynamics dyno , resulting number would have been around 300kW or 400hp on a DynoJet for that day, but I think on a decent day with good grip, I'd probably make 300kW on this dyno still more than happy with the results, the car is a weapon to drive, scares the shit out of anyone who drives it

NOW, the drive home...
Naturally, I decided to go a bit of a back road home at one point. Mad twisties and beautiful setting sun views. Most sections of road were quite narrow, two cars could juuuuust pass without tread leaving the bitumen. Out of no where came this bloody animal (yet to be determined, about the size of a cat but very slow moving) and I had no where to go. It was either hit it, or aim for the cliff. Results were a cracked bar from the bottom of the fog light down, ripped out under liner, blinker clip broke, and stress fractures in the paint all over the area. Much saddness.

Doesn't look that bad but it's about $500 to fix and paint. Which leads me to today, running around getting quotes for repairs.

Hope everyone had a better weekend!!!!

As part of my ongoing garage organization, I built a tire rack for my OEM wheels. It is very sturdy and doesn't even wobble. The tires also don't even touch the walls. Eventually, I'll cut out some felt to go between the wheels. But, for now, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I can't wait to get a fresh coat of durable paint on the walls, tire rack, and other shelves that I built.

Thanks man!
And the front lip is a Bayson R front lip, the side skirts, rear spats, and rear diffuser, I purchased from a local forum member, but I believe they're CS style. You can find them on eBay, and the rear diffuser was just some cheap eBay one.

Put an offer on an '08 Cayman automatic for my wife. Hoping that will shut her up for a while so I can post here.
