Practice scripting shit to automate it. I've been working on my ksh chops. One of these days I'll start tackling perl. There are infinite things to study.
Are you taking time on the interesting ones to do deeper analysis like we talked about?

Be patient. Let the situation pan out on its own. Give no fucks.

@soulreapersteve this is the motto right here. Especially the give no fucks part. The CEO of my company was constantly coming over to my desk to chat last year about cars (apparently his son has a diesel Jetta that's loud as fuck *swoon*) and he always saw me watching some shit on YouTube with a random spreadsheet open over last years winter. I still have a job somehow, so I'm sure you'll be ok.

If you focus on the feel of your engine and learn to feel the difference between aged and fresh oil you will feel it change well before the published service interval.

I have nearly zero fucks to give about my work truck.

If the company actually cared about the well being of my truck, they'd give me scheduled time for maintenance, instead of loading me with a ridiculous schedule where I have zero time to deal with anything. As it is, from march to December, I only get Saturday and Sunday off twice per month, and, surprise, not much is open on those days

Hard to give no fucks when you are treated and seen as a cog in the system, not as an individual. Already aware of the fact that at my level, any trained monkey who can breathe is able to replace my spot. This would be very tolerable if I had a normal 8-5 m-f shift but 6 days, 12 hours on nights.. its tough. They make no exceptions with the schedule..

I've been doing deeper analysis with the more fun tickets but they are now pushing SLAs up everyone's butts so I can't get away with that anymore. Going to try to tough it out until end of year (and to pad savings) but if things don't get better.. I'm going to have to find other job - which is saddening because I wanted to put in time there.

Skimming through listings by the local gov. Found one and read through description. Perked up my mood since I pretty much nailed all qualifications (and then some). 1 full time and 2 full time, 2 year term positions with possible roll on to permanent.

Going to apply and see what happens. If I do get a call back (and possible acceptance), going to have figure out how to give notice at current job without burning bridges or looking like a jackass.

Easy, just give the required notice(4 weeks?) and thank your current employer for the opportunity to work with them.

Career advancement is not a crime, if they hold it against you that is their issue..

It'll wait until Monday, or maybe tomorrow evening if I decide to go and buy some tools, oil, filter and filter wrench (that I'll charge to the company), but that will be weather dependant. Since right now it's blizzarding, and I only have a hotel parking lot to work in
