Is there ANY head unit out there that still has buttons? I don't give a rats rear end about album images, track info, who farted in the studio, phone connectivity and anything else that requires you to look at the stupid thing to operate it.

I want the unit from my '13 back.
There are a couple of ways I can think of.
1. Use the playlist feature to put the songs you want in the order you want played.
2. Use an MP3 Tag editor to modify the mp3 tags in your mp3 files so that HU wouldn't sort them. For example you can change all artist name to "an artist" and all album names to "an album" of the songs you want.

Or check ebay, I think you can find older head units available.

Thanks, all. Trying the playlist route, I'll be joining the late 20th century I guess.

I'm sure you can also run this off the aux jack.

How else to you get it do what you want, dumbass. Is Android supported? I'm not sure the 17 has an Aux input, either.

If not, this POS will be on the roadside out near Jewell today.

I am on the wrong side of the world today, sorry.
I have a 2013 headunit (BRZ Limited) if you want to trade.

Headunit is completely different, but still has a CD player.

The manual for the 2017 headunit is available on Toyota's site.

I can't help with your question, I use Bluetooth and streaming music services exclusively.

For anyone still listening, I have questions as well.

I drive a 2015 FRS.

I use USB port to input from an SD card...music in MP3 format.
(I never listen to radio as they don't have alternative rock stations in my small town)

>>Seems to be no way to fast forward or reverse tunes in MP3 format for my head unit.<<

I've bought MP3 players for less than $10. which can FF or Reverse music.

Lot's of bitches from me about the software in this Pioneer head unit but this is my biggest gripe...as many YouTube songs I download have junk at the beginning of a song/tune. I just want to get quickly to the lively part of a song.

Am I missing something in how to use my head unit, or is this the way it is ??

And is there any other format this head unit will play other than MP3 ??

I typically download videos from YouTube, then use a program to change them to MP3 format for my car.

And no I don't have a smart phone, have no clue about blue teeth or any other of that stuff young people know about instinctively. Ok, well I do use uTorrent for tv and movies. I have no interest in paying for anything I can get for free. Typical old person, only willing to learn what I must learn to save $

I also wanted it to treat folders as playlists instead of indexing everything by artist/album regardless of where it was stored on a USB stick.

I've been using the Genre tag as an ad-hoc playlist. Copy MP3s to the USB stick. Strip off all the Genre tags. Then add a custom Genre tag with the folder name where the files are stored. For playback I just lookup the Genre of the folder I want and throw it on shuffle.

Kind of involved process and you need an ID3 tag editor, but it's one way of making this head unit do what you want.
