In cabin sounds real pleasant and quiet--great thing, in my opinion, especially with a header installed. Any chance for some drive-by sound clips? I'm still contemplating on the switch from my current cat-back to this single exit exhaust. I've personally grown to love the single exhaust over the past year from hanging out with Supra Enthusiasts.

I'll try to take one this week.

I'm surprised not more people go with this option, instead they go Perrin or Q300. I suppose most people prefer the dual exit look.

Do you ever come out to any bay area meets? I have the Tanabe installed if you want to hear it in person. I love it.

Spot on review. I love the sound of this setup. I have an AT so drone/bad resonance through the chassis have been hard to avoid but this one did the trick.

Quick question on the welds. What did the exhaust hanger welds look like? Mine were horrid with one even going through the metal and creating a relatively large spur inside the tubing. They held OK though so I installed it anyway but just curious if that's the norm or mine was a defect.

Sounds like an option. I've been looking for a new "droneless" catback ever since I sold my Invidia N1 exhaust. It just droned too much with my header and frontpipe combo. Tossing on the stock catback solved everything. No more highway drone at cruising speeds (60~75mph). Would you say this Tanabe catback would have little to no drone at these speeds with a header?

From what I remember all my welds looked good. If I get under the car anytime soon I can check them out.

This catback has pretty much zero drone at cruising speeds (60~75mph). It may have a little bit, but really you're nitpicking. If you install an aftermarket exhaust its going to be louder than stock.

I would say yeah, with the Tanabe catback you are going to have little to no drone with a header. The catback itself is pretty quiet and delightful to listen to, so when I installed the headers I expected the same results. However I'm running stock OP & FP. Needless to say I'm happy with my setup.

Bump for nowhere!

I was wondering if you ever added a header to your car with the concept g installed? Im interested in picking one up but afraid itll be too loud/raspy paired with my tomei uel header. Any input would be appreciated!

Video in this thread, see post 13.

Catless header will make it quite a bit louder but it is glorious.

@Phantobe can you expand on your issue during the install between midpipe and front pipe? Does it re-use the stock donut gasket to fit and the spring bolts? Thanks!

The flange had a lip so if I recall correctly you couldn't use a wrench on the nut (clearance issue), I think I had to use a swivel head & ratchet. So just make sure you have some sockets & ratchets.

I re-used the OEM fasteners & donut gasket.

Sorry if bumping this is a bad thing to do.

I have looked around the forums and google. Your review/responses seemed like the best bet for the question;

You installed headers with the exhaust; I have headers, op/fp and with my current setup it is stupid loud. I like the idea of single exit, and I was wondering if you had any idea how this sounds when you compare catless UEL + Tanabe vs a cattless UEL + Invidia N1, or do you have any idea what the Decibel level is at 3k+ RPMs or on the Freeway/highway?

I need to quiet mine down and I am looking for mid range exhaust that will cust my sound down quite a bit and I am hoping this will do the trick with my current setup.

When i installed my header, OP, and FP with the Tanabe is was loud a hell and rasped like no tomorrow. The N1 isnt much better imo

Not sure what decibel or anything but I'm willing to bet the N1 will be louder. Right now I'm currently running a full exhaust with the exception of a stock header. For DD its the perfect amount of noise that makes me happy, some very slight drone on the freeway at 80+MPH but the music usually takes care of that...Most likely am going to do some sound deadening in the doors panel in the future as well.

With UEL & Tanabe, you'd get some drone on the freeways at speeds above 75mph or so. Got pretty annoying so I switched back...if you're dead set on going catless headers I'd try a dual resonated FP & a Q300 or hell just try the Tanabe.

I'm currently running tanabe overpipe, berk hfp & tanabe concept g... I can get a video up of that sometime its much more tame and more livable with for DD. If you're trying to quiet your setup down try the stock catback paired with a dual resonated FP.
