I just don't have time for the "oh my god you added 1 pound of unsprung weight armchair spec racers" who use their cars only for grocery runs. Track time is far more important than minor weight differences for the vast majority.

Yeah 17 is better than 18 because is more manageable and more cheaper. Wait...

My exhaust is 1 pound heavier than stock, so if I get lighter wheel, it evens out!

What wheels are those? Looks like Enkei, but don't think they make that in 8 multi-spoke (iirc they only make 7 or 9).

Edit: I'm guess BBS RS-GT... but I thought, RS-GT never game in 5x100?

TSW Nur is close to Enkei Raijin (which I have).

18's equal expensive isn't always the case. Good example, my 18's summer tires (225/40-18 GT Radial) costed me less than my 17's all season tires (225/45-17 Kumho). I think, my 18's costed me around where in mid $400, while my 17's costed me south of $600. Sometimes, you can get cheaper price in 18's than in 17's. Search around and see what options you have.

BUT I'm comparing in daily tires. If you're comparing for racing 18" tires will cost more than 17"... usually.

You can also run 18's on autox (if your region isn't too strict) and they still work nicely. It's all up to your suspension setup. I still can drift or grip with my 18's. If you're wondering what size I use for autox, I'm currently using 17's for autox and 18's for daily.

Rays Homura 2x8gts. Most of the Homura line is gorgeous! But the ones that appeal to me come in 18's+.

I was thinking of keeping the stockers for auto-x/track and going with the 18's as daily but seeing as I am a very lazy person, I don't want to keep swapping for every event. Suspension setup, keeping it stock or going with the RCE Yellows.

Not looking to win races or set times, mostly doing it for fun haha

17X8 TSW's with 225 nitto NT01's are lighter then stock and don't look bad at all.

I went back and did some calculations. My car got right at 9,911.92 miles per gallon between the time it was built and when it was delivered to me. I have not been able to come even close to this since.

This is probably some part of the auto/oil industry conspiracy that we have been hearing about since the 70s.

(Disclaimer: mileage calculated based on the estimate of Google Maps from the Gunma Production Plant, to the port in Japan, through the Panama Canal, to the port of Savannah and then to the dealership, and allowing that most manufacturers put 4 gallons of fuel in the tank at the factory. When the dealership filled my car up before delivery it took 8 gallons of fuel, leaving an estimate of 1 gallon used. Your conspiracy theory estimate may vary)

Huh, I didn't know Rays made those kind of designs.

I have daily (Enkei 18's), autox (weds 17's) & winter (OEM). So I'm used to it. At the autox, I swap em out every event. It's not that hard, specially when I have electric impact wrench. Black Friday is near by, it's worth look into impact wrench and extra 17~19mm sockets. Lift the front high enough and rear wheel will go up too to make thing easy

Suspension should only take <2mins to set it up. It's not like you gotta adjust it every race. You should know the base setup for daily and racing.

Either way, you live in WA right? So you can't really have summer tires all season long. You gotta swap em out.

I use stockers for racing cuz I couldn't afford 2 sets of wheels. It's a pain to swap them out but not that bad. I suggest welding a little piece of metal along your pinch/jack seam and use a small floor jack to lift the whole side. It WILL collapse without reinforcement if you don't use the stock jack but then you would have to crank it up and down. Fuck that

If you're running street where you need stock width wheels, that's a great idea. Though you'll some day want lighter wheels... Otherwise, you already know the answer: stay 17, go as wide as you legally can, and as low a weight as you're willing to buy. The cheap route is, of course, RPF1 for 7" or 9"... And rock 18's everywhere except events.

I have 4 sets of 17's including the stock wheels/tires which won't even fit the front of my car. AutoX wheels, summer wheels, winter wheels, and stockers... and I don't drive in the winter if I can help it (I have the winter setup just in case) - and the weight savings at the wheel are worth chasing. Same with behind the wheel. If you cheat yourself you'll always wonder. Also, no reps for AutoX. just don't. I'd avoid for street too but...

Having something you really like for most of the time is so worth it though.

Take your time, save up, and keep your eyes peeled for a good deal.

Its bother me the fact the wheels i like cost $4000 plus tires and with that amount of money i can do the car FI. RPF1 are more common than xxr here and for me doesnt look good on a orange car.
