Backup camera install notes...

Installed my backup camera over the weekend and have some comments/tips that may help others...

1) I bought the harness from autoharnesshouse.com, and Brian was great. They really stand behind their product and have a "do the right thing for the customer" attitude. I had a slight issue with one connector and not only did Brian make a suggestion that cleared up the problem, he offered to send a replacement unit if I had any difficulty. Great customer service.

2) I used a 36 inch zip-tie as a wire snake and it was great. I did NOT have to take out the rear seat nor the rear seat panel trim.

3) I used the following 5 degree bevel washers to alter the camera angle slightly and they are perfect for the rydeen duo camera. 6GA10 Square Washer, M8, Pk10 link to ebay auction.

4) I spent far too much time debating where to mount the camera... I ended up NOT choosing the middle, since the 2016 cars mount it to the left side and I wanted to appear stock. Having lived with it for 3 days, I can honestly say there are no drawbacks to mounting it in the factory position - you have to REALLY try to tell that it is not centered. The camera is sooo wide angle/practically fish-eyed that the 8 inch difference from centered is meaningless. Upon further inspection, it appears that there is a BENEFIT to the stock location... the center of the trunk garnish is slightly angled in the WRONG direction!

A backup camera is a GREAT addition to this car!!!

P.S. I only used two washers (one to tilt the camera, the second reversed to compensate for the angle of threads and the retaining nut), so PM me with an address and I can help out the next 4 people with rydeen duos who want to try this!. Note that the hole in the washer is 1/2 inch diameter so these will NOT work with the backup cameras that require a larger hole to mount.

Picture of display...

Using the 5 degree washers, here is what the display looks like. Note the edge of the bumper is barely visible at the bottom of the screen and the backup lines are almost exactly at 1 foot increments.

Nice job. Got mine here:

Great quality, and you are correct sir - I will never be without one again. Pair this with DD LED reverse bulbs and the tails as turns so your signals can be set up as led reverse also, and you'll see nothing but daylight behind you on pitch black nights when you shift into R.

How difficult was the install? Or straight plug&play? Electronics/Wiring and I don't mix :x

Not plug in play and you can get a camera just like this one on Amazon for much less.
