Lol he's probably just joking around guys.

The PP cars are made in the factory, this is because they are the GT trim on the Japanese side, they are exactly the same thing and the top trim for Japan. With the right hand drive of course. So they would probably be built side by side, each other with the same components etc.

Now move along, your cars should and will arrive by Jan, I hope to see lots of pictures and actually expect more PP car owners then the normal ones. Which is nice

Again I would have gotten it but my out the door deal for my 2017 was so amazing it be stupid to pass up.

In any case enjoy! Jan/Feb will be here faster than you all know it!

I was able to slip in an order for my dealership when the BRZ Pricing was announced back in July, so I have a BRZ with PP coming next month in November-- at least that's what's showing on the Pipeline. I will know for sure if a VIN is given during the next update.

The order Window for BRZ's with PP was open in July for like 36 hours then closed.

On the other hand, some dealerships are given less BRZ units then others. If you were to order a BRZ with PP from multiple dealerships, some would get them later than others but it entirely depends on if that dealership has existing orders already.

Say ABC Subaru gets 4 BRZ's per month. Originally the default delivery month of a BRZ with PP is January but if ABC Subaru already has 4 ordered BRZ's (Non-PP: Premium 6MT, Limited 6MT 6AT) for January then the BRZ with PP order gets pushed to February. So like if ABC Subaru Salesman were to put the orders for the 4 Non-PP BRZ's then the 5th one as the BRZ-PP even within the same hour, that 5th unit gets pushed to February.

Say XYZ Subaru gets 2 BRZ's per month but has only 1 ordered unit for January then if ordered early enough within the window, XYZ Subaru will get the said BRZ PP on time in January.

Sorry to say this is false. We're only building Legacy, Outback, and Impreza here. Your picture is from an FHI press release. Whoever added the extra text is wrong.

I have presented my hypothesis with several documents showing options such as wheels, exhausts, springs, etc are installed at port and pictures of bare bones special editions being shipped and your counterargument is "prove me wrong"? I have been very clear that I am not positive about this but believe it to be accurate. You are making an a statement of fact with a one line comment without even saying who made that comments. Not sure you understand how debates work.

We will see in a few months where the parts are installed.

Read more of the thread. I thought that the sarcasm in my post was evident but apparently not.

I am not joking that the PP options MAY be added at port. Of course the rest of the damned thing is made on the line with al the rest it is just a normal BRZ with some brakes and struts slapped on it not some special gift from the gods.

You'd be right. I missed the sarcasm.

I can tell you with certainty that PP will not be port install. Accessory wheel options normally would be, but high volume packages (relatively speaking) like PP and the Alloy Wheel package on Legacy 2.5i's are bolted on in the factory. Extensive safety and QC testing would be required after mechanical alteration like brake and damper swaps and WWL isn't equipped to handle that, nor would they be willing to accept the liability. Subaru will treat PP as a 3rd trim level.

Thank you! Finally a well thought out response to my statements. I am very willing to change my stand on this but it will need to be based on evidence and facts not "some dude told me" as others have insisted.
You may be right except a couple of things still make me lean toward the port. There is no more liability than a car received built off the line. The people doing the work are Subaru employees working to Subaru standards. It isn't like they are farming this work out to Bubba's Repair Palace. Dealer techs change brake assemblies all the time they don't send the car back to the factory.
We have no clue yet what the volumes for the PP will be. It is an optional package not a trim level. If the volumes are high enough I again would agree that it could be done through Kanban and sequencing but if the volumes don't warrant it and it goes against Lean then it will be more efficient and cheaper in the long run to do the work offline or at port.

It's being treated like a trim but it's being advertised like an option.

On the system when ordering you have to START your order with premium, limited, limited AT, or limited performance package.

so when we tried to add the performance package to the original limited order I placed you can probably see why we had issues. The system certainly gives the impression that the changes are made at the factory. Usually when adding a package or accessory you can just edit the order if its not already in production but the ordering system sees these as two different vehicles (like switching from manual to automatic).

Hope that clarifies a little bit. It doesn't debunk the notion that this could be port installed but it just seems less likely.
