WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR BRZ TODAY?

Got a few things done last weekend.

First thing is I changed out the OEM Head Unit, which was terrible, and put in a Joying 5.1.1 Android HU. Took me a few hours of reading on the forums, but I got all the OEM parts working perfectly, with no modifications or splicing to the OEM wiring. OEM backup camera, usb port, aux port, and steering wheel controls are all working perfectly. The only thing I didn't attempt was to get the OEM mic to work (I don't believe anyone has tried that yet), so I used the external mic that came with the new HU. I believe I am the first to get all of this working (especially the new steering wheel controls), on the 2017 BRZ, so pretty proud of myself there


Due to the trapezoid shape of the OEM HU, there are large gaps in the bezel and you can see mounting brackets in this picture. I'm going to get the 2017 Canadian one-piece trim to make it a perfect fit. I didn't like the piano black bezel at first, but it kind of grew on me and actually matches the center console. But the one-piece leather w/ red stitching looks good too.


Last but not least are some more lights from Diode Dynamics installed. I want to thank DD for allowing me to exchange the license plate bulbs to some brighter ones and making the return as painless as possible, excellent service from their team as always.



Just got my plates from the DMV, and will be putting them on next week as soon as my plate frames come in. Thanks to Timmons Subaru for the BRZ, but those plate frames have got to go

Awesome. You know what would be amazing? An all-in-one DIY on how you got that all done (stereo). As a future '17 owner that is waiting for his car to arrive, I will be forever grateful.

How much did that cost to do? I was thinking about getting mine wrapped aswell.

The shop I use charges me $300 for the roof wrap. That includes the shark fin, which they take out completely to wrap properly.

Have done it on 3 cars now, my old IS-F, and my last FRS too. Always looks good and can always take it off if you don't like it anymore

Which relocactor kit did you end up going with? I'll be ordering mine soon and the GoPro mount would be nice.

Reached 1K miles on 10/13. Installed the '17 front under spoiler to complete the STi set. Just gonna call it a day now.
