Clutch Engage Whine?

Hello,

Long story short bought a 14 FR-S two weeks ago, i love the car and everything. Car has 25,XXXKM only . When i left the dealership I kept hearing this whine noise when i depress the clutch and also engage it. Coming from a 10' Speed3 where the clutch is like a truck vs fr-s where the clutch is soft. Idk if im shifting wrong, or doing something wrong in general.

Here's a video:

If yall don't mind helping me out, greatly appreciated!

I can't really hear it well, but it could be either the slave cylinder making noise or worse the throw out bearing.
Since your still low on the miles, I'll take it back to the dealer and having them look it over.

I don't hear anything unusual. The twins are quite vocal.

Maybe I should just get used to it , i don't know if its a transmission whine or that's how the car works but maybe i'll bring it in the dealer just to make sure. thanks all.

Common concern with people used to FWD where clutch and tranny noises are not obvious. They make the same sounds but are way up in front of you and hidden by the engine and firewall. You now have all that noisy stuff sitting a few inches away right beside you and since there is little sound proofing you hear all the whines, creaks, clicks and wizzes that are normal operating sounds. Nothing to worry about and you will indeed get used to it. In fact after driving it a while the lack of sound from a FWD will seem strange to you.

The video is hard to hear the sound but if its a spinning wooshing sound (if you have ever heard grinding stone wheels, kinda like that) or rustling sound when the clutch is depressed could be and probably is your Throwout Bearing it was on mine it was getting worse and worse over time. The Throwout bearing is covered in the powertrain warranty (as they normally dont fail, but there has been that issue with some owners having melted/failed bearings).

When i took my car in to get this fixed i was beyond the powertrain warranty but have the Platnuim Warranty on the car and they Replaced the Throwout Bearing, Pilot Bearing, a rubber boot on the shifter as it was cracking, and also the pressure plate (since the covered throwout bearing damaged it) all covered under warranty. So i paid for a new clutch plate since they are in there for free.

There are a few other symptoms of a bad tob you might want to check for.

If you sit in neutral with clutch-in and do a light rev you might hear a whooshing noise or a light rubbing or scraping (this was very noticeable when cold) and also a light grinding sound on deceleration.

I really don't hear anything abnormal in the clip much less anything that screams TOB. Suppose it could just be my old ears but I don't get why everybody needs to jump to the worst case scenario based on that clip.

@Tcoat yeah I don't hear anything too abnormal either. Clutch engagement noises are normal unless you're super perfect with your shifts.

@"PDM 2" you might want to have someone else drive the car and see if they can replicate the noise. It could be driver technique causing the noise.

For all other normal noises, you kinda have to tune them out with the radio. Whines are normal. If you replace trans and diff fluid it usually gets a little quieter.

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I hear a "wooo" with a hydrolic sound. Doesn't sound bad to me at all but I do hear something. I'd say give it a month and if it is literally the same thing it's just a part of the car, if it get's louder I'd probably look at it closer
