Just do not buy it. Best revenge you can ever get against a product that someone produces!

Just did a little research and we should see the 2013 WRX real soon with a redesigned body and new engine probably FA20 Turbo..
What is your thought on this? Pretty much should just wait and see what it would be.. and the 2012 become undesirable unless the 2013 is really ugly. From a modding stand point it is so much easier to get power out of current 2.5T than the rumored 2.0T in next year's model Last edited by FRSCoupe; 06-15-2012 at 01:05 AM. |

I think it's a cool looking car. It obviously has a lot of power and mods are plentiful and easy. There is a lot of storage space, the trunk and hatch is big. I'm still breaking it in but it's fast even below 4k rpm. They're good in inclement weather. They're for the most part reliable. There are horror stories about ringland failures but I think for the most part they were in the '09 WRX models and in STI models. They handle well for what they are. Sway bars and endlinks help a lot in this department. The seats are more comfortable than supporting. -------- About the 2013MY I think a redesign won't be until 2014, but I could be wrong... |

I am close to getting a 2012 WRX STI but read about ringland issues that plagued a (small?) sample of WRX and STI owners. Very expensive problem...
is this too much of a worry to stay away from this car? |

The failures were due to a lot of things: the earlier stock tunes were too lean causing knock/detonation, people were modding and not tuning, people were driving their cars too hard, and IMO didn't keep an eye on oil or didn't change oil at the correct intervals. Yes there are and were engines that failed that were stock, but I think they are few and far between. And usually failure happens within the first 0-40k. (and generally under warranty).... Again we're talking like less than 1% for stock failures. In the end it is something to keep in the back of your mind especially if you decide to mod, but it's also something that shouldn't keep you up at night. |

Do not do anything to your car unless you tune for it. This includes intake and all exhaust except catback. You should be fine.

![]() Yeah the AWD on the standard WRX is mechanical, and it has all of the computer aides that the BRZ/FRS does. Heck I'd argue that a BRZ Automatic has more! ... The STI and EVO have a bit more computer things, but its hardly driving the car for you...er well maybe in the EVO's case.
