So, basically my curiousity, a set of headers for the FRS probably won't bolt up to the revised exhaust system, but a cat back system would while I wait for companies to get their products revised for the new 86/BRZ.

Of course it will, the new gt86 and brz isnt really NEW, same chassis. Hell i like the new BRZ bumper and i may just swap my 2014 dumper to a 2017. My current bumper already has enough dings and scratches I was planning on a repaint anyways.

They just redesigned the header not completely relocated the exhaust flanges.

Ahh, okay that makes sense. Thank you. So the manifold itself was redesigned, no change to location of exhaust output from the motor itself.

we don't know what might fit, best to ask the manufacturer of the part you are interested in. Greddy has already said a couple of their exhausts fit but several do not.
