I found the post, enjoy. I am trying to watch this closely because I will more than likely purchase one since this car will be a strict track car once I have the motor finished.

One more question about manual transmission oil.

Why doesn't the maintenance schedule for my 2013 FR-S, call for any manual transmission oil changes .....??

What about in other countries .. ??

Other year FR-Ss ..??

Does it call for a change in the BRZ maintenance schedule .. ??

Most manual transmissions are considered lifetime fill by OEM, and that works for most people.

Once you increase stock power, replace a bunch of OEM parts, and/or subject the car to proper racing conditions, you are your own development engineer, and all the high-dollar things the OEM engineers figured out for you like service intervals, torque specs, etc, are out the window... Though most people simply become superstitious.

Good quote.

I track my car and I change out the diff and transmission fluid at the beginning of every season. Spending $100 on preventative maintenance is better than several thousand on new parts.

it's on page 36 and 37 of the Brz 2014 Warranty & Maint. Booklet. The trans oil has to be changed every 15,000 miles when the car is frequently operated under severe driving conditions. An example of SDC pertinent to the trans is driving on rough and/or muddy roads. As a side note, this same example also applies to the diff oil. Another example for the diff is repeated trailer towing. The manual is a bit awkward to read and is in small print.

Are the transmission and differential vented to outside atmosphere or are they sealed systems?

If sealed, free O2 would be used up to a plateau where it would stabilize for a while.

With a vent though, there's that window things would fly through.

It vents with a check valve to keep it at or below ambient pressure.

Keeps the seals from weeping as it heats.

There is an OEM water based cooler in the AT. It works with a thermostat. Some of the parts could be used in the MT. Personally, I don't think it is needed.
