Anyone with a windshield tint in New York and Long Island?

Have you had any issues with light tint (Air blue 80) on your windshield in new York with night driving and cops?
I'm in Queens,Nassau, and Suffolk thru out the week, so I wanted to know how much are they busting balls about it.
To those who have it what did you do with your inspection and registration?
I have 45% ceramic and I'm loving it but the heat from the windshield is roasting me pretty good.

Thanks in advance guys for your help.

Hey, I'm in Long Island, NY, bought my BRZ with a tinted windshield, the previous owner had a permit or something that stated he required it because of his eye condition. I'm not sure what percent it is because I see out of it fine, and I have been pulled over once for spirited driving, but the cop never said anything about the windshield. Had the car for almost a year now and no incidents with police about it, thank God. I work in Great Neck, and travel to queens a lot as well. So I come across both Long Island police and NYPD and never had any issues.

Thanks for the info. I waiting for my installer to get me a sample piece that I can use for a few days so I can judge. Then I'll decide if its worth it.

They bust balls over tint. I've gotten pulled over multiple times over the years on LI because of tint and in friend's cars. If you look like a kid/ricer, etc, you will get pulled over more often.

Have you ever driven in the rain at night with tinted windows? I'm done with the tints!

While I'm not from your side of the country and can't help with the cop aspect, I thought I might have some information about the tint that might help.

I have AirBlue80 on my windshield and it's relatively easy to tell that it's installed.

The dot matrix near the rear view mirror and around the edges is pretty noticeable due to the film not adhering all the way down to the glass. This could be due to my installer not going the extra mile to get rid of them but it is visible from the outside.

The other big giveaway is that anyone that wears polarized sun glasses will see the rainbow effect from the outside from a mile away. Even my kids have mentioned seeing the "rainbow" without glasses on. My windshield looks EXACTLY like the one in the photo below with polarized sunglasses on.

I ended up not doing it. Every installer told me it will be to noticable from the inside to my eyes, which would have bugged me. Also the cops being what they are where I travel would have been pain.

I wanted airblue because I thought it would be less noticeable, but just like you said you can tell. Also finding an installer that had it was difficult as well. In the end I just ended up dealing with the heat.
