I used Kinek Point and drove over the border. No questions were asked but I was mentally ready to pay HST

Shipping by courier international like fedex, dhl, puro, ups etc is the worst they all declare to customs the amount on the invoice and no way to avoid paying your provincial tax.
Duties is another story, you are able to apply the Nafta agreement whether you are an individual or a business, if the parts are manufactured in the usa, canada or mexico. With that it will allow you to avoid paying duties. Now if you want to avoid tax and duty the best way is to have it shipped from an individual to an individual (no company name mentioned on the labels) and stating it is a gift which are allowed up to a value of 60$ cad of importing tax & duty free. Now do not start undervaluing the parts i.e. 60$ turbo kit because customs not dumb they will google it and slap you in the face lol. Also how much you paid does not make a difference to them either they only consider the actually value lets say to replace it. Although for higher value the next best thing is to have it shipped regular mail through usps/canada post and that is like rolling a dice, sometimes they make you pay sometimes they don't. |
