I've got pics of Prototype 0001 (I believe I posted them a while back)..... work of art.

Checking out headers again now that I've gotten Subaru to fix my leaking timing cover.

I'm looking for the quietest header. Would it be a catted UEL or an ACE CS400 (uncatted of course)? I'm not sure how much noise is suppressed by a cat.

I looove this sound here (stock EVERYTHING): [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Iw02bH7lfk"]Ace Header ClubSport 400 In-car Test - YouTube[/ame]

but not a fan of the loud sound here (Ace front pipe): [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGxhLPWOBhs"]ACE Header ClubSport 400 Drive-by 11's - YouTube[/ame]

I'm ready to go back to my stock exhaust (have a Perrin 2.5" resonated now) if it's too loud . But from what i hear, the best sound suppression is all stock parts. I think someone tried some dual resonated front pipes and it didn't help much with reducing noise.

bro, be smart. you want a quiet header, what makes you think a catless would be a good choice for that, huh? any aftermarket catless header is going to be loud. you want quiet, pick a CATTED header. simple as that.

Honestly, my CS400 and otherwise stock exhaust is pretty quiet. Start up is a little loud, but after that, you can barely tell from the inside of the car.

that's why i mentioned i'm not sure how much noise is suppressed with a cat. also which is the quietest of the two. obviously none are quieter than stock. I'm asking for a comparison of uncatted EL to catted UEL as well.

If you want a quiet exhaust but still sound good, from what I've read a good combo would be a catted header + JDL ultra quiet front pipe + invidia q300. This will reduce the restrictions with stock but be quiet and still have a good tone. I currently have the ACE B350 with a JDL ultra quiet front pipe with a stock cat back and while it isn't loud, I hate the sound of the stock exhaust with the front bits being more free flowing. I'm waiting for my Corsa to come in where I expect it to be borderline too loud.

I think I need to save up, so come Christmas, I can get one of these headers to compliment my Cosworth supercharger.

Catted header with an otherwise stock exhaust will be nice and quiet. An uncatted header with stock front pipe back will be reasonably quiet with a stinkier smell from the tail pipe. There are so many combinations of exhaust pieces to go with but I would copy someone else's setup if I liked the sound rather than roll my own, so to speak, to avoid regrets.

Did any of you guys have any CS400 issues with a rattling sound near the engine? I seem to get it at 2-3k rpm and it sounds like tin.

I'm interested to know how loud your set up will be with the Corsa. I'm considering something similar, if you can please update once you have it installed!

Sure thing, I'll get some video of it and post up when I do. I think it'll be delivered around October 4th so hopefully it won't be too much longer after that when it is installed and recorded.

People going with the ACE are looking for the best powerband available and are not worried about smell or sound production. If you have questions on what may work well for your vehicle, send us a PM and we can help you out.
