Are ND owners still having issues with their manual transmissions shredding apart?

Supposedly an updated tranny is being phased into cars built in Sept. 2016. I guess broken ones are replaced with the update now as well.

Every time I see a Miata I think to myself "you are my nemesis!" And every time one parks next to me, I snap a pic of it with my car. Lol.

Miata is a two-seat roadster, twins are four-seat sports coupe. I would consider maybe Genesis Coupe in the same category, not Miata.

Miata is for short people; you really have to be under 6' to comfortably and uncompromisingly fit without having to go with aftermarket seating (which would need to be side mount race sests). Test drove an ND Club Sport when they first came out and didn't like it much - it's cramped, has a sailboat suspension that not only rolls rediculously side to side but also yaws excessively (like if it were on a super soft sidewall where you can get the chassis to move quite a bit before the car actually takes a set and turns from the tire contact patch), the top frame of the windshield blocks your view and is uncomfortably close to your face, and it's a convertable.

I know I am probably in an extremely small minority on this one, but I absolutely can't stand the ND shifter - a very infuriating, way too light action that automatically goes to the next gear without stopping through neutral. Trying to get it into neutral requires way too much concentration, it should automatically stop in neutral automatically and require some discernable effort to select a gear. You could probably just flick it from second gear with your finger and it would automatically slide right past neutral into 3rd like a pinball. I like notchy, extremely positive shifters that you provide all input to, where neutral is a position you have to select - the ND is on the completely opposite end of the spectrum to this, even though it is a very precise shift. I even went to a much lighter than stock Delrin shifter to make the shifting more positive with the stock shifter mechanism.

It is great that there is a choice of small roadster for people who want one, but there is absolutely zero delima for me if I had to choose between an 86 or ND...FR-S all day every day without any hesitation. I fit fairly comfortably in it, the suspension is absolutely what it should be stock (and is much more direct and precise in comparison), it's not a covertable, and it's much less expensive than a similarly equiped ND.
