On a side note, I have encountered people who dont let me by because of the car, and not in HPDE but on Time Attack events, where there are prices and it does matter. In one specific scenario this is what the guy told me when I went to talk to him after the session: "Oh I though you were in my class (I was in a faster class) so thats why I didnt give you the point by". I was furious, would that mean that if I was in his class he was intentionnaly blocking me so I couldnt get a clean lap in? Before you tell me to go into the pits and let him by, it was a 2 min a lap track and we have 10 minutes to score a fast lap, going into the pits is 4 minutes wasted at best, and with 25 cars on track, there really isnt much clean space.
That's just bad sportsmanship.

Sorry Mike, it's an HPDE, if someone won't let you by, you do a quick drive through of the hot pits to gain some space and go back out on track.

As Andrew mentioned, not only would you get permabanned from the racetrack and likely the sanctioning body hosting the HPDE, you'd be lucky to get out with your ass.

I know in my redneck part of the country if someone pulled that kind of stunt at an HPDE without question you would have the shit kicked out of you by multiple people.

Even many racing organizations (granted for amateurs) WRL/AER/etc have a NO CONTACT rule and these are proper races.

Was going to specifically mention this. Slow people not giving point-bys are how trains start. If I'm being held up by someone slower than me and then a faster car approaches from behind, I do not give a point-by, I wait for mine first. My reasoning is that if the slower car won't let me by, then he's probably not going to let someone else by. Also, there is also no guarantee the person behind me is actually faster than I am so when I finally DO get my point-by, I might be stuck behind someone else.
