BRZ is trying to hard to be cool, FR-S is already cool because its an 86 lol. So that makes FR-S way better than the BRZ wanabe 86 haha.

I sometimes use voice command on my Android. About half the time it doesn't understand me right and I have to type it in anyway.

And I had a Garmin in my old car but it was text only so I'm used to it.

Besides, I never find myself driving and then being like "Oh, I want to go here now. How do I get there?" so I don't mind typing it in while I'm at a stop. Besides, I figure maybe one day it will save my life (or somebody else's). I still see people texting while driving. It's pretty sad. New BRZ premium owner here! Quick impressions:

1. Unlike the FR-S the BRZ has the USB and aux connectors in the glove box as opposed to the dash. I prefer the FRS location.

2. The Subaru standard Pioneer AVIC X9310B is better than the unresponsive Pioneer unit they get in the USA. The Pioneer X9310B can not play FLAC audio from the SD-Card slot. Bluetooth audio pairing, phone calls and the NAV all work very very well. The touchscreen is a little awkward compared to my Galaxy s2 smart phone but I think I'll get used to it. The unit is compatible with 32gb micro sd cards. I have a class 10 in mine and it's quick.

3. The Subaru has a $750 Ski Instructor Rebate (CSIA) as well as a grad rebate.

4. Photos do not do the BRZ justice at all. The lights in particular are jaw dropping. I think it's one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen in person. Same goes for the FR-S. I had 3 people yell at me to ask what it was on the way home from the dealership... Rush hour.

5. The BRZ has lower insurance rates than the FR-S.

6. I prefer the center seat fabric on the BRZ to the FR-S for hot days.

7. Two keys and a third valet key are standard on the BRZ.

8. My very good friend JM sat comfortably in my BRZ, he's 6'5' and with the seat on the floor he had almost 2 inches of clearance above his head. His body type is long legs, short torso. Seat was all the way back, he'd have a difficult time driving it but as a passenger he was quite comfortable. Most sports cars he can't even get in.

9. It looks better without fog lights.

10. The BRZ comes standard with the Ipod cable (not that I'll ever use it).

The price difference is smaller than it appears for a lot of us. Subaru has 4 different rebates on this car. Scion has 1. Depending on which you qualify for you could get the BRZ for less than the FRS.

There is no debate that HIDs and NAV are an advantage for the BRZ. The insurance is also lower. For me the cost difference was less than $700 in the first year of ownership which is kind of a no brainer. My insurance is over $100 less per year than the FRS.

I hope people get insurance quotes before deciding what car they want. I think both cars are awesome but I would be pissed as hell if I bought an FR-S because of the money savings just to pay hundreds more every year for car insurance.

Yea... that was a weird design choice. It isn't too bad for me as the USB port is in there too, so your Ipod stays charged.

I'm just wondering what we can do with that port that's sealed up now.

What were the 4 different rebates that Subaru was offering for the BRZ? Also i would agree HID are a advantage over the FR-S. However NaV can be either a advantage and disadvantage, it could add up if you need maps updated (Legally). Are you financing or buying it with cash?

Please tell me how it is a disadvantage LOL?

Even if someone were to not update Maps - they wouldn't really run into much trouble. I doubt roads will change drastically enough within the next 10 years to warrant a map upgrade (unless it's free).
