My work just received a silver 86 with TRD wheel and tire package. Not sure on the wheel width but they look wider than stock. Glad to see the wheels are forged and the tires are Bridgestone.

Honestly though, when I saw that video, I thought it would've been interesting to have an independent race doing the same thing, but stick a modified zenki in the race and see how well (or poorly?) it can do.
That can be said for any car though. I am more interested in stock vs stock as a jump off point. Pitting a modified car up against the stock ones is a meaningless exercise. It is the age old cliche here that " Sure an X can beat the Twins but add tire/coilovers/E85/FI/etc/etc and..." . Sure that is all great but what could the car do without changing it? I could take a 1970 Pinto and turn it into the perfect track car if I threw enough mods and money at it. Reaches a point where calling it a Pinto is no longer reality though. Same applies to extensive mods to a Twin. You can reach a point where the result is so far from the stock performance that all you really have is a Twin shaped, custom car.

Oh, and there is zero reason that the latest and greatest version of this or any other car would automatically be presumed to be faster or better then previous versions. I have said several times that many great cars have been "improved" right out of their original purpose and abilities.

Alright, you got me. I should have quantified & clarified what I meant by "modified". I was thinking really basic things just to even up the playing field (ex. TRD 86). Or at least have the same driver drive the cars back to back for some hot laps instead of having drivers with difference levels of experience or driving styles.

Yes the same driver, under the same conditions, with bare bones stock cars. Even then variables come into play since things like ambient temp and humidity will change but it would be a closer evaluation. The since conditions are rarely perfectly constant I never put much stock in the debates where sombody says car X is better than car Y because it beat the other by a tenth of a second.

Lots of times "better" means heavier, slower and more expensive. I doubt they'd be stupid enough to apply that to this car however.

Yes the comparison video on the track could be better. Using the same driver and not a racing completion with different drivers.

However, even with this comparison the final positions were:

1. New 86
2. New 86
3. Old 86 spec C (with the suspension revision)
4. Old 86 spec A or B

It makes sense ...

Btw. the video is located here:

Of course they'll have to make the new 86 better than the old one, all of you are making good arguments.

The real comparison I think I was hoping is going to happen and it will eventually

Is kouki 86 vs kouki BRZ will they be the same or very similar like the 14-16 FRS/BRZ or different like the 12-13 FRS/BRZ

!

Well, the US price raise is way more reasonable than in Canada from what I see... about 100-200 $ ?

I've hurt myself more and I've visit the closest dealers of my town and I've found that :

It's the same car with some new spot weld & retuned suspension (damper)

It will be bigger then the minor update between 13 & 15 for sure. But is it really that different? Not really. It's being further refined on feel that's for sure.

Exactly. Same drag coefficient. And this talk of vortex generators in a car that almost never sees triple digits is especially ridiculous.

Anyone know if the new 86 is gonna have a GTS version or something similar to the monogram series they had for the FR-S? I really want the digital climate control and the push button start.

Nothing official yet, but Toyota would be silly to not offer a special edition model in the coming years.

How long did it take for scion to announce the 10.series after they released the FRS?

Does anyone know if Toyota would offer the identical or similar performance package as the BRZ?

From Subie's website:

"Brembo® Brakes and 17-inch Wheels
The available Performance Package features the Brembo® performance brake system for track-ready, fade-free stopping power, along with exclusive, wider 17x7.5-inch aluminum alloy wheels. This feature available Winter 2017."
