I learned my lesson during a 2 day autocross weekend. Never again will I sleep in the car unless for napping purposes.

To be fair though, ambient temp dropped to a cool 85 degrees at its lowest point so that probably made things more uncomfortable.

The only time I have done it is break time naps at work. I sleep on the passenger side because there is less crap and I can move around. Gotta have the front shade in, roll down the windows a little for some fresh air, and lower the seat till I feel comfortable. The front seats will lay on the rear seats but that is not very comfortable.

With that I dont think I could sleep like that over night. I would be waking up a lot and tossing and turning. Also I would probably wake all sore.

I like that diagram in the link above, very creative.

It is pretty comfortable for power naps. I've slept a couple hours at a time in the car no problem.

Its not all that bad for a few hour nap

If you need a bit more shut eye though, might i suggest a hose from the tailpipe into the cabin of the vehicle, exhaust gas makes for a wonderful sleep aid.

When I got my mr2 Spyder from Portland we had to nap on the 15 hour drive home (stupid traffic). We were so tired it was actually comfy to sleep in that damn thing hahaha

It took almost 4 hours just to get out of nightmare Portland traffic. It was the most ridiculous drive I have ever been on.

Denver may have been faster lol

I'm quite small but I was able to take a nap once just reclined the passenger back and relaxed, works best if seat is all the way forward as it reclines further.
Also folding the rear seats and lying down in the boot is something I've done fits two small people (tried and proven) and used the head rest as a pillow plus you have the sky roof.
This car is one romantic package haha!!

If its a long nap, it wont be comfortable.

So last night I attempted to sleep in my FRS when I got locked out of my house and my wife had the only key and she wasn't home. It sucked. Horribly. I tossed I turned I was uncomfortable and couldn't relax. The longest I was able to "sleep" was 20 minutes. Because of this I only got 2 hours of sleep last night before work and well this was at midnight last night and I woke up 0200 for work. As of this post I have been up ever since.
