If you've never experienced it, then you can't really speak on it. I find it interesting how much disrespect you have for your people in uniform, but that's the right you have, that millions of vets have fought and died for since the USA became a thing. Like sitting down during a national anthem, opposing a conflict your country is involved with, or whatever. You are able to do those things because someone did get shot in the face, and their "*****" team member couldn't fireman carry them out... But that was probably because there were 10-20 German machine guns raining fire down at that point, and taking out those MGs was more important.

Biggest takeaway I got from the Corps. I have always been and always will be an individual, but I was thrown into a world that no matter how bad ass you were, the mission didn't get done without everyone pulling together. If that guy next to you wasn't up to snuff, shit didn't get done. You made sure he (or she) was because of it. Part of that is making sure each person is up to a standard. If you can't or won't get up to whatever person, professional or physical standard is required, you are a weak link and you need to go.

Sure, many leaders didn't get it and didn't approach leadership with the right perspective IMO, but that shit is anywhere in or out of uniform. You watch out for the guy or girl next to you and you get the mission accomplished. You take care of your troops and they WILL accomplish the mission. I learned that in the Corps and it has served me well as a "nasty" civilian. I get shit done because I know the value of a solid team. If I lead it I make sure the team has specific goals, instruction, timelines and milestones, the tools to accomplish them and them I GTFO of the way and let them execute. If I am a worker bee, I make sure I have obtained the same, that my team mates are similarly equipped and ensure I and everyone else is pulling together.

Yes, work is this boring today.

Years before the common core, I made a game out of finding different ways to solve arithmetic problems with my nephews. They hooked into it so hard it became a mandatory activity whenever we were together.

Looks like the rest of the world is finally catching up to me ...and the Egyptians.

Yeah the difference in physical force of a man hitting woman or a woman hitting a man isn't really as much different as people percieve. I'm an equalist if you don't mind me labeling myself. I don't think anybody should really need to hit anybody except in self defense but at the same time I don't think the penalty or the likelihood of recieving it should be affected by gender.

It's basically a 1 step common core problem.

The first step would be adding whatever number gets 2999 to a nice "clean" number which in this case happens to be 3000. Since it only took 1 step it is your answer right there.

From my understanding (only actually starting reading about common core today)

If you wanted to do

3047
-2999
------------



common core would say to do

2999 + 1 = 3000
3000 + 47 = 3047
------------
48 = answer
