Jackson Racing Dual Radiator Review
Just thought I would write up a few things I found about the JR dual Radiator/oil cooler.
-Oil temps before sat around 205-210 cruising. Now are at 183-195 depending on driving. They cool down very fast at a stop. -A small 1-3 degree difference in the actual coolant. By the way our stock radiator is the same thickness as the AC condenser wow... -The Bolt or whatever you want to call it holding down the oil plate does not specify a torque. Everyone else uses 25lbs. I did not at first and it was loose. I suggest torque being used on that 27mm. One problem that was very irritating was the top Oil Line fitting kept kinking. I wish they had an NA option or at least that's why I think they run the line all bent to get past their super charger kit. I can understand that but just annoying to worry about. The actual fitment of the radiator was dead on 0 problems. It bolted right up and seems to be a very good quality radiator. Their customer support team was awesome and great to talk to so that was a plus too. My only question about the whole kit was on the last page. I just sent an email to them so I am curious to see their response. "Check the rotation of the oil filter adapter at this time and tighten the 27mm hex. Stock Airbox: The AN line closest to the oil filler cap will need to be as close as possible to the oil filler cap. Jackson Racing Supercharger: The AN fitting doesn’t need to be as close. Update
"This is to clear the factory airbox.
Avoid kinking by rotating the oil line ends until they find a natural alignment. The most important thing is to find a natural hose alignment." -Jackson Racing Sooooooo im good and anyone else that may have this problem in the future. Update 7/27/16 -Hoses are holding good. no leaks. Went to check tightness and did a little tighter but hoses still seem like they want to kink... Very sketchy hoses.... If they do kink im assuming all that will happen is no cooling will occur so I am going to just run it. If that happens I plan on just fitting custom hoses and ordering my own.

Had my first issue today. Ran the tar snot out of my car on the mountains this morning. Drove 6 hours back home in the same day. Went to check everything out and there was oil on the bottom AN fitting of the radiator. Gonna take everything off this week so i can get to this fitting but it seemed tight to me. I dont know if it just spewed a bit or what but I can see oil on my fan shroud too. Looks like I lost about .1 or .2 quart. Not sure if the high oil pressure just cause it to spew or what. Im gonna tighten the crap out of the fitting is thats the only place i find oil and go from there.

Everything is tight and nothing loose or spinning. I think it just wasn't tight enough. It sat over night and everything was still dry. Going to drive it again when I get off work but it seems to be fine as of now. Installer error ftw most likely

mine was slightly leaking from fitting, then i tighten all fittings super tight with an adjustable wrench, after 1 track day everything seem to be oil free beside the oil filter... I guess b/c i reuse the same filter and its gasket couldnt hold anymore...
btw the bottom fitting i used some thread seal, it wasnt super tight but no leak at all. just wonder if that will cause any problem? |
