You question was specific to chickens so the egg certainly came first. If we wish to expand that to which came first the dinosaur or the egg then it is still the egg. Take it a step back and ask which came first the fish or the egg then still egg. Even further mollusk or egg then egg still wins. Try to go much further then that though and the answer could be alien I suppose.

Egg. Something 99.9999% chicken like laid it. Then a 100% chicken hatched from it

Sorry, doesn't that mean the 99.9% chicken came first?

Then where did the first baby mammal come from? How did the first maple tree sprout? The concept does not apply to just eggs.

My bigger question is how did people discover things? Did some caveman accidently boil 100 gallons of tree sap and discover the gallon left over tasted good? Who the hell was the first person to pick up an oyster, pry it open, look at it, and say "hmmm that looks delicious"? Who thought it was a good idea to go suck on a cow and see what that white stuff tasted like? Did they try the yellow stuff first?

Yes but the question was if the chicken(not an almost chicken) was first. The first chicken had to have been born from an egg. Species develop via generic mutation and natural selection: those with a mutation that makes them more capable of survival/attracting a mate will pass on their mutation to the next generation. Now we consider things like 3rd arms mutations but really anything odd like hair color or a slightly elevated red blood cell count is a deviation(mutation) from the first human(or anything). Obviously there is room in each species for individual differences but at some point one critter was on the border of being a different species and their offspring crossed that border

Based on the lack of a period in the tweet, there may also be a baby on the way.
