Yeah I wish I could say I was even successful at it 20% of the time (that I actually try, I don't even bother when I'm on min-rest in a hotel somewhere). I think my best results are when I go to bed in almost like a daydream state (usually thinking about something unrelated to the dream it ends up being), and then realize that I'm in a world that isn't real but don't freak out so bad that I wake up. The crazy thing about the movie Inception is that it nails it pretty good. You need something (doesn't have to be a trinket from the real world although maybe that would help IDK) that makes you say... wait a minute this isn't real... but at the same time you can't let it shatter the dreamworld your subconsious created for you. It's a delicate balance and it really surprised me that someone made a movie about it with so many acurate points. The thing that amazes me most about it all is so many things in a dream can be such none-sense but you will believe it so much that you don't even know your dreaming. But then one stupid little thing happens and your like THIS ISN'T REAL!! And then you're awake in the middle of the night in your bedroom. Sometimes even if you don't wake up though the whole world falls apart and you can't stay in it. In the movie they have the subconcious people trying to kill them, it could just be physics falling apart and/or some other peril that you can't stay though because it's like your own mind know that you know, haha. I get scared about trying to stay in too long and dying in real life somehow in my sleep. That was a point in the movie too. And I thought all those things before that movie ever came out. Or did the movie make me think I thought those things along...? :mindblown:

The worst part is how quickly the memories of it fade even within minutes of waking up. I am tempted to keep a pad of paper and a pen next to my bed. I'm a little scared of what I might write though.

Haha I'll bet that's not that much different actually, just drug induced instead of natural.

I like to think those days helped me along when it came to doing things naturally.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth a 585 mile round trip to go to my first autox this weekend. I think I'm more "FNCrazy" than I thought for even entertaining the idea. There is one much closer same day, less runs and it's put on by Porsche people though...Hmmm. Plus I think outside right now it's 173 degrees, so I'm sure the tarmac this weekend will also be pleasant.

Autocross is fun. Not worth driving more than an hour. I know because I drive an hour... to stand in the sun for 6-8 hours and race less than 6 minutes at over $5 per minute. It's fun, but borderline not worth it. Once I have ready access to a track, I'll probably just hit it a few times a year and autocross a couple times at most

I have a lot of anxiety disorders, among basically the entire DSM-IV (now V). So, I'm wanting to get this first one out of the way so I'm not anxious or scared of it. It's something I want to do, but at a very, very high personal toll. I might never do it again, who knows. But thinking about it, and deciding yes and no, back and forth, I just want to get it out of the way!

Also, honestly, I have no car friends, so it'd be cool to meet people that are in to cars.

But that's a ridiculous amount of miles, plus, like you said, standing in the sun for hours...Brutal. I'll probably just put it off. I need to get it done though quickly.

Do whatever your heart tells you but I gotta say, if I wasnt working this weekend (and didn't get teeth pulled), I would be down in Packwood. The drive alone is well worth it. Packwood is such an amazing site and its essentially out in the middle of no where.

I dunno how the Porsche club runs things but SCCA is so welcoming to newbies. Many friendly faces willing to hop in your car and answer all questions you have. But this is my opinion, since I do love driving. After all, if I ever do decided to get serious about auto-x, I'll have to do tons of driving to mid-west since nationals are held there.

See? Now I'm all gung-ho again! Sheesh. I'm at least registered (got my son's age as my car # LOL). I think it'll be fun, just a lot of gas, and a brutally long/hot day.

588 miles...I actually have no idea how much mpg I even get to calculate gas costs. I can estimate of course. I usually get lower than everyone else says they get in the exact same cars. It might be because I weigh 985 pounds, or just a really heavy right foot.

And I'd *love* to have someone in there the first few runs showing me how to run autox. If I do go, I'll make sure and read up on the main ideas, tips, tricks, etc. anyway, but nothing like an actual driver to tell me to quick texting while autocrossing.
