I have a high tolerance for pain meds for "some reason," so I'm screwed when that happens

Hmmm I wouldn't mind eating pho for a whole week. And what is this "swallowing meat whole" think you speak of? It mildly intrigues me :o

Had my bottom two wisdom teeth taken out about 10 years ago. Insurance wouldn't cover general anesthesia and I was too cheap to pay for it, so did it with a local only. They had to cut them both in half to remove them because they were pushed up against my other teeth as they came in horizontal rather than vertical.

Felt like I was in an old Western or Civil War movie. "Give him some bourbon and hold down on this".

Saved me $800 for an hour's discomfort though.

They asked me if I wanted local or general anesthesia. Not going to lie, was going to go local to save some money on my end even though insurance covers most with either method.

Then I remembered how much of a wuss I am and decided to be knocked out while they have fun in my mouth.

It's not bad. Sucks for a while but you'll feel the difference as your teeth loosen in a healthy way. It will have a great positive impact on your quality of life for the rest of your life.

In the navy I had all four of mine pulled in one sitting all with local anesthesia and yes, he had to bust mine up in order to get the sideways roots out. With each tooth the surgeon gave me an opportunity to back out, asking me if I had had enough It took over two hours with him literally bearing down on me with my help and sweat dripping onto my face. It was a real team effort. We high-fived and he congratulated me on my endurance.

800 mg ibuprofen 3x daily was just fine. It's much more effective than people give it credit.
