I have bought cars from dealerships that will do this (usually with severe restrictions like 24 hours and less than 100 miles) although I would never buy a car that I could not test drive first, and without having to do a lot of paperwork.

I have bought motorcycles from places like WOW Motorcycles that for insurance and liability reasons do not allow test rides. However, they will "buy the bike" back from you within a certain amount of days/miles if you are not satisfied with it, for the price you paid. With bikes it makes a little more sense to me than with cars.

Wow that's not very good. I'd be pissed if my dealer let someone test drive the car I paid for...

Well I dont think it was fully paid for or anything. Just the $500 deposit as he was coming from a couple hours away I believe. So technically it was still owned by the dealer.

A dealer out here in CA would NEVER take a car back...there is no grace period out here, and buyer's remorse is the buyer's problem

True - you're SOL here if you don't like the car. Another reason why I would never buy a car without test driving first.

That's pretty much true everywhere, unless the dealer has a specific policy that says otherwise (some do, 99.9% don't).
