Depending on the area, more than $5k is considered more than a "small claim." Thankfully, however, I am not a laywer, so I may be wrong.

Good luck man. Sorry you have to deal with this. Let us know how it all turns out. Hopefully it will all be a memory soon enough, and you can flip the place off every time you drive by.

if he is retaining legal aid chances are he has been advised to stop discussing it on the forum. I remember being in a situation with employment issues for my mom and I posted in a local forum in calgary and lawyers told me to stop all conversations that were not with them to protect any information. Which makes sense I guess

I worked at a place where it was all custom. I helped with bra installation. Never once did we get a panel. To do it right you need to drop the bumper and take out the headlights.

Thanks for your feedback and sympathy everyone!

Wed 6/20/12: I managed to get one of the owners cell phone number (not the guy I have been dealing with). I explained my situation, how at this point I was being ignored and left in the dark. He told me he wanted to stay out of it and have the other guy deal with it to which my response was things need to get started. A few hours later I get a call from his insurance broker and that he was going to open the claim immediately.

Thurs 6/21/12: I get a call from the insurance company, we will be scheduling a time for their estimator to take a look at the car.

So finally things got started and no legal action needed to be taken, unless the insurance company tries to screw me, but thats a different matter. I feel that one owner was using delay tactics for some reason, but the other knew things needed to get handled.

Glad to hear that things are moving forward, and that they are sending an insurance rep over. Make sure you have the originals of the pictures you took, just in case they need a copy. If they are serious about it, they will have a camera, make sure to go on a 360º walk-around of the car and ensure you point out EVERY piece of damage.

Good Luck!

Man, this sucks. I promise there are shops in your area that do quality work; if you look hard enough you'll find someone. I work with a film installer and I can say quite confidently when he installs film you can look as close as you want, anywhere...

Hopefully when this is all said and done someone in your area can take care of you properly.
