The first available '17 BRZ's will definitely be non-PP models. If demand for the non-PP model is the same as '16 models then I also believe they will sit on the lot for an extended time. In fact demand (for non-pp model) could even decline if people wait for the PP model since the target market is so small.

Most likely the people picking up a 2017 Model (Non-PP) right away will be people who are casual driving enthusiasts who can't wait for the Performance Package to be released (like if their lease ends or if their old car is breaking down/totaled in accident).
I see thanks for the Clarification, I don't think it's a tough call to wait for PP but at the same time because like you said the cars will Sit. It might be advantageous to adopt early only for the savings. Then again the amount of money needed to mod one so that it comes close to a PP is also something to consider.

I've been thinking lately about what kind of aftermarket parts/wheels brake kit you can get that comparable to the PP with that price.

Obviously can not speak to your area but the Subbie/Toyota sales guys here have told me several times that about 80% of their sales of these cars (all 20 or so of them) have been to people that are not "enthusiasts" of any type just your average Joe/Jane that wanted a small interesting coupe. Those people could not possibly care less about some brakes and wheels. The guys that want that will probably wait (impatiently) but I would think the rest will just buy what colour they want and be happy.

You know now that I think about it, because the Series.Yellow already have PP are those up for ordering?I'd imagine those would arrive in limited number first before the Limited with PP options do

That sounds pretty reasonable. I think the "enthusiast" set is probably a small percentage of an already small percentage. That being said, I don't think enthusiasts will be waiting too too long—a dealer in the Pacific Northwest just quoted me an arrival of October for limited with PP (they assured me they triple-checked the date as well).

The Limited Editions can't be ordered.

We have a list of each carline that shows the cars that are coming within the next two months. With Special Edition cars, they just show up on the list without any notice.

Last time around, the Series.HyperBlue showed up on the BRZ list in July. It had an estimated arrival month of August, but then it changed to October. For the record, it arrived on September 29.

Just wondering but are you going to ship it to where you live? I saw Boston and assumed you're east coast.

I'm planning on keeping it in Oregon for a bit since I have family there, and I'd like to avoid paying sales tax if possible. MA state law says that if the car we as registered in a different state for greater than 6 months then it's a used car and there's no need for tax. Oregon also says that you can register it in-state so long as the car resides there and is primarily used for driving in-state, which would be true since I'd drive it when I'm there and I'd let my family use it when I'm not (as thanks for storing it).

Edit: As far as getting it back here: ROAD TRIP.

I'm assuming those were just random allocations and not actual customer orders. If it already says in transit, is it safe to assume actual orders like mine would be on the same boat but haven't been added to the dealers website?

They may have matched you with a car already in production.

Ordered cars count as allocated units. However, If a dealer has already accepted their allocation for a given month, they can still order cars--but these ordered cars will be placed in the next month's allocation.

For example, ABC Subaru is allocated 5 BRZ units for October. However, two orders were taken in July. ABC Subaru will still receive 5 BRZ's in October, but 3 of them will be random colors/trim. ABC Subaru won't know what trim/color the 3 other BRZ's will be until Mid-September when the dealer accepts the allocation.

But say it is still July. The current BRZ pipeline has been filled with 5 ordered BRZ's. Then, somebody walks in and wants to order a BRZ. ABC Subaru Salesperson can still take the order, but this time the ETA shows November 2016 rather than October.

So a few weeks pass and it is now mid-September. The regional manager realizes Subaru has given their region extra BRZ units, which are already on a boat, and decides to give ABC Subaru 2 more BRZ's for October. So now, ABC Subaru will be receiving 7 total BRZ's in October, but don't forget they still have that 1 ordered unit with an ETA of November since that one isn't built yet.

A random unit may arrive earlier than an ordered one if there happens to be extra units on a boat.

...Also, officially ordered cars don't appear on website inventory.

Can a 2017 Ltd. PP be ordered? Just no VIN or dates yet?

So when the salespeople order vehicles, they see this screen:

Just a few weeks ago "HZE-01-2.0 Limited - 6MT" Performance Package would show up.

Now it doesn't...as a result there is no way to order performance package BRZ's as of now.

Hmm what are the chances that a Limited PP would arrive at dealers with out it being ordered say early next year. Or do you think most of them will come from the product of customer orders.

I was told and sent a Subaru memo that listed a March arrival. I figured that meant a Nov-Dec 2016 order time frame using 90 days from order to car arrival.
