A few things I didn't know about the car
I got to see the GT86 for the first time today and being apart of this forum there was a lot I was expecting a few things that surprised me.
I guess the first thing was the car is not really that long in length. It did seem reasonably wider than I thought. Maybe because of the low front hood. I didn't realise that there is no mudguard steel in the engine bay. The only thing there is the plastic surround to stop the mud and water coming in the engine bay from the wheels. And yet the chassis is so strong, I really don't know how they have done this. Great weight saver I guess, just never seen an engine bay like that before. They other thing was the rear red triangle at the back does light up as a fog light. I thought I read some where it doesn't it just had a reflector. Must be for certain countries I guess. It also has lights in the end of the doors which I thought was good. This is really hard to sell as a 4 seater as previously said. To see it up close, they were not joking... For me it will be camera gear and tyres in the back...not to many people.... I did really like the driving position. I thought my little Z3 was low to the ground.. this feels lower again. You really do sit on top of the steering wheel and I love the view to the bonnet. You can just see the wheel arches in view which I thought really makes you feel you are in something different. Visibility is excellent. The gear lever did seem a little notchy but I didn't get to drive it today so I will reserve that one for when I do. I think the Perrin fix might be something that I order before I get the car in September. I really loved the car overall from what I saw today, I hope to test drive it early next week. Check it out for your self when you get a chance, i don't think you will be disappointed. |

Hey mate where did you see the car? I went for a quick spin today at North Lakes and here are my impressions:
Love the side view and the overall dimensions, just so nice and small but with great presence. Wish it had "more" up the front, just looks a little bit empty up there, maybe thats why Subaru looks better to my eyes. Gearbox feels very notchy, but then again the car did 128km - it does take some time to run it in. Engine felt very free revving, I don't know about the sound pipe, I guess its good but yeah the engine sound is nothing special, but when you are not revving the car it is very quiet. Couldn't really drive it properly, just didn't get enough time to get used to the car and really wish I could have it for myself for about 20 minutes. GT looks fine inside, has everything you need and didn't feel cheap - just clean. Seats feel great to sit in and look pretty good - but I do wish leather was an option. Wheels do definitely look too small for the car. |

Oh yeah one more thing - the car didn't "feel" fast - and the last sporty car I drove was MX5 NC. But I am putting that to the dealer next to me and his objections to me driving it "properly".
In a way its a good thing - very linear power delivery. |

Yeah I was quite pissed of at a certain salesman who promised me I can drive the car tomorrow and made an appointment for 9am only to call later and say sorry, can't do it!
This is after they screwed up my order - I was meant to get the car this week but will have to wait till Sep. So I had a few words to the sales manager tonight and at least I went for a quick test drive. |

Ok let's organise it in a few months time when more people get their car. Maybe Sep/oct in time for Xmas.
There are a few small things I want to buy from the US like gear knob etc |

I'd hold off on the crank pulley. Nothing against perrin, but the parasitic gains are pathetic in comparison to the damage harmonic vibration can do to your engine from an off balance crank due to an aftermarket pulley.
