What's the best way to fix this body damage?? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Do I need a new bumper? Any aftermarket ways to make it look better?

I know I could replace the bezel and make it look 100X better but I'm also throwing around the idea of adding fog lights.

I can't decide.

Btw since I'm sure everyone's curious that's how I got it back from my ex after our divorce about a year and a half ago lol. I just bought a house and paid off the car so I figured I can start working on the car now. Yes I've been riding around like that for a while now. Priorities.

Japanese plastic is expensive. The sheild under the motor that connects to bumper cover is 192 bucks. Thank God for gorilla tape.

There are a few different lip kits that would cover all but maybe the highest part of those scratches (thought they won't do anything about the cracking in the finish obviously).

Specifically due to the cracking which would take a lot more to repair, I'd probably just clean the scrapes up a bit and hit it with some touch-up paint. Just think, you never have to feel bad about scraping a parking block now.

Honestly that's how I feel. I don't want to pay a ton of money to get a brand new bumper and paint job and then hit a deer or have someone back into me. I'd be so mad. I'm also not really super anal about my cars. I do want it to look nice tho.

That's why I was asking for some ideas.

Any specific lip kits??

If you're throwing in the idea of adding fogs, just get the new bumper or call up some salvage lots for a used bumper. It can be repaired but some shops may charge you as much to repair as it costs for a new one.

Lip kits wont cover the giant crack on the inside of the lower opening of the bumper.

Oh yeah - I didn't notice the crack. It could probably be epoxied, but that's a bit tougher. A lip like this though would also help secure the cracked part.

There's also this one which would cover pretty much everything, but may not be to your personal style.

I'd just surf Ebay motors and see what jumps out at you.

Otherwise, salvage yard bumper might be the way to go, but it's probably tougher to find than one might think considering for these cars to wind up junked often means significant front-end damage.

Order a custom made sticker tha reads "this is why she is now the Ex". Slap it on there and sit back and enjoy the laughs people will get.

^^^His suggestion is the best. In the long run replacing the bumper would be better. I would image that crack will eventually get bigger. Just my 2 cents.

Full Rocket Bunny kit is really the only choice. It's made even easier by not having a wife to answer to. You're welcome.

Look for a bumper repair shop. I know a local guy that is a fantastic plastic welder and could fix that crack and smooth the scratches. It will likely cost you less than the full bumper. I think bumper medic might be a chain that has a location near you or just call some shops and ask about plastic welding.

If you're talking about the radiator splash shield, it's only $30. The parts guy at my local Toyota was as surprised as I was at how cheap it was.
