[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXbYABhiXhQ"]How to repin a connector or harness -the easy way- - YouTube[/ame]

Never repined a wire before. Link above helped. Using the easy method the blue wire came right out.

edit:
Just wanted to shout out and thank all the posters to this thread. Reading everyone's input and what challenges people faced made install a lot easier. I still have to grind down/ adjust the brackets to make the trim fit over the radio :$

Yolooo... went ahead and bought it from Amazon.

I heard some people using an external mic and some using the built in one , which one is better if someone has tried both of them?

I just installed mine a night ago... So far liking the stock lollipop, I haven't tried the built in mic yet, but will try it tonight and report back. I didn't have any issues putting it in and I didn't have to shave anything from the mount even though there was one bump on each side of the mount that didn't line up with anything. Slid right in. Havent tried Igo or anything other than googlemaps with offline maps.

Also stock player plays flac and mps right off of a sdcard no probs right off the bat!

Yoo quick question to peeps who have this. I heard it only has one SD slot and that has all the maps data in it.

Does this support USB Flash drives behind it , I see two USB ports in the pictures. I was thinking of getting one of them and sticking it in the back.

Yes it only has the GPS SD card slot on the front.
Also has a mini USB plug on the front with an adapter for an additional USB but looks gross with it hanging out.

Comes with a rear adapter for two USB (I have one for my WiFi modem and one for my USB OBD2 adapter.

I have heard (but cannot yet confirm) that these can support a USB hub.

I am also going to be attempting to just transfer the igo GPS software onto my music SD and see what happens.

But for the most part I'm not worried. I mostly use Spotify and my music SD anyway. If it doesn't work it has a very capable Google Maps app.

How come you went for a USB OBD2 , wouldn't a bluetooth one be easier?

Also what do you mean wifi modem? The unit does not have built in wifi?

My model has two micro-sd slots. I haven't put two in yet, but plan on it for maps.

These have wifi built in, he might mean usb lte/3g modem. So you wouldn't need a hotspot.

Ok.. slight complaint. The Joying model I have and I assume all others have a 32gb internal microsd card slot limitation right? I was hoping that it would accept more since it was running lollipop. But no...

Anyway, what is everyone using for GPS navi? I know you can mirror your screen via easy connect right? Also if you have a hotspot or a 3g modem attached, you can use google maps... but if you don't want to run your phone all the time either via hotspot or easyconnect. What are you using?

I am trying navigon and tomtom, any other suggestions if you don't want to use data?

Curious what the average start/boot up time is on these newer 5.1 units. Has anyone counted this yet?

I will try my 64gb I bought for mine today and report back. I thought I read it can handle up to 128gb.
Maybe it was after one of those reflash rom things...

I used to use Sygic for GPS. Worked well for me and I assume they are still offline use.

As for the previous question, yes it has built in WiFi, I did mean the 4g Hotspot modem.

And I went for USB for two main reasons, but another was in my mind too.
1- USB pid/sec was substantially higher and thought it might keep readings more accurate and real time. Might be wrong...I'll find out.
2- I have read about reliability issues with some bt adapters. I went with a big brand USB version and they do make bt ones which are rated very highly...but.....
3- price. This was $55 to my door. The quality bt adapters were over $220 and I didn't want to spend more than my head unit for an adapter. Especially not knowing how well a cheap android unit would function. If this works out well, I probably will get a good bt adapter and use this cable one to read from my wife's jeep for diagnostic situations.

Just installed mine. So far looks good except the backup camera stopped working. I had it on a relay before.

Do you guys have backup camera working with just the yellow line in, red power connected to reverse lights, and black ground? Does it switch to reverse automatically when putting it in reverse?

edit: got it to work.

1) Yellow in
2) 12V power to red camera power line.
3) Ground black to ground (frame of car)
4) Trigger wire to "Back" wire on Headunit. I tapped the reverse trigger wire by the drivers side well behind the trunk release pull switch.

easy peasy.

Now just gotta figure out if it is worth it to root.

Is anyone using a custom launcher besides the Joying supplied one? It looks kinda meh.

Are both the USB ports in the back the same? Or is one for Flash drives and the other for phone mirroring or something specific?
I plan on putting one into the USB slot in the front. And the other one behind the dash , probably connect a flash disk or something to it.

Installing the unit tomorrow , hope I don't mess it up >.<
