Yesterday I picked up a used 2013 FRS in asphalt with manual transmission - what a fun car!
I was concerned about all the complaints about needing more power, and although I wouldn't complain if it had more these complaints are really overblown in my opinion... I have owned cars with over 500 HP and frankly it is a waste on the street. More than that I was "done" with the expenses that go along with such a car, including a $2500 brake job (ceramics) after a spirited run on a closed course track. ![]() And although it is claimed that people do not cross shop the FRS with a Porsche, I actually did - driving a Cayman S back to back with the FRS. The Cayman is nicer... but no where near 3 times nicer. I'm having a blast - including the liberating feeling of not worrying about door dings and scratches on a $70K car - or getting upset when my 5 year old eats a muffin in the car! This car reminds me a LOT of the 280Z I drove in college... |

Hello out there!
Figured I'd stop creeping and actually join this phenomenally well represented group. I'm an automotive enthusiast who has worked in the trade since 1997, spent the last 13yrs working for GTA Toyota dealerships. I've owned many a interesting rides, but after an inaugural Scion track day at MOSPORT in 2013 I've lusted after this chassis. Glad to finally have "Wakizashi" parked in the driveway, and proud to be a part of this community. |

Hello all
Hey, New to the FRS world. Just got my Monogram FR-S last week and love it. I already have tons of great info from this forum. Not the fastest car for sure but a blast to drive.
Can't wait to start the mods! Last edited by Jediael; 07-24-2016 at 01:54 AM. Reason: oops |

My first post to this Forum, but I am not new to the FRS. I had a 2013 Series 10 for 2 years and 3 weeks ago picked up a Release Series 2...interesting comparisons to be made esp. regarding the suspension differences. I am 61 years old...so I may not fit in very well...not the typical FRS demographic. However, think of it this way - I just arrived in a time machine from 1972. Sooo...I have NO ISSUE with the 200 HP. I was driving Triumphs and MGs during the golden age of muscle cars. Yea...they can have their straight line fun, but I have always liked curves and balance. I built my time machine and arrived in 2013 because Nostradamus had predicted the FRS. I'll tell you it was worth the trip. Downside...I look like I am in my 60s but at least I don't feel that way when I drive my FRS!

Thanks much! Good to know that folks across many age groups "get it" regarding the FRS. In the last 3 months, I test drove quite a few cars including a VW Golf GTI, Genesis Coupe and thought about a Fiat 124. All good cars! But, I just could not picture giving up the fun and styling of the FRS. The unique look of the Release Series 2 sealed the deal.

I've been browsing the site for a couple of months now. Saturday I traded in my Chevy Snuze and picked up a very low mileage 2013 10 Series. My first "mod" was to remove the Carmax sticker. The next item on the list will likely be to update the sound system, and I've already seen dozens of great articles and how-tos here on this site.
Thanks to all of the admins and members for keeping this site going |

Just bought my very first Scion FR-S on Monday I got a 2016 with Borla Exhaust. Been a huge JDM fan all my 23 years of living and I can now finally have the car I've wanted since 2012. Very happy to be part of this forum thank you guys for accepting me as a member! I traded in my 2004 dodge cummins for the FR-S which so far has been a huge driving difference that puts a smile on my face everyday I drive it.

Welcome... I just sold my 2011 Tacoma and bought my 2014 Monogram FR-S. I don't regret it at all.... When winter rolls around in NOVA I might. On the up side I love my 2 hour commute one way and I have an excuse to stay home when it snows. :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
