Very doable. I drove from Texas to Alaska in an STI and drove back in a MazdaSpeed3. I wish I had the FR-S for that drive though lol.

also if you think about it, the casuals will say that spending money on a car to go around a track is pointless. but to us it isnt lol. get me?

but having a 400hp+ car on the street when the speed limit is 45 most of the time ...the only way you will really have fun is breaking the law...i've seen a clown in a modded mustang race a bmw on a public road and almost rear ended a car driving the speed limit up ahead ...take your power to the track my boss at my old job had a gt-r and said he was always stuck in traffic most of his drives and couldn't use the car to it's full potential on the streets so he ended up selling it and bought a volkswagen touareg instead lol |

There's lots of things I consider a waste of money (a big ass diamond ring, or aero mods on a Civic, for example) but if they make you happy, its well spent money as long as it isn't mine. My second choice when I bought the FR-S was a 2012 Camaro ZL1. If the Camaro had been the 2017 current model, I would have probably purchased it, or if the 2016 'Vette was available then, it would have been a top contender. I could afford any of the 3, but the FR-S was fast enough, fun enough, and made me smile enough that the price differential wasn't worth the extra expense (particularly since I pay cash for cars, that changes your tune quickly). I would never have tracked any of the three (I've done my track time, not my thing anymore) but I would have enjoyed them equally.

but we buy what we like no matter a 100hp economy beater or a 500hp sports car. everything is a waste of dollars if you think about it, is goes back to the want vs need topic. none of us need to track a car and spend thousands of money when instead of saving it and using it for retirement/home purchase/invesment. super offtopic but just buy what you want and dont really care what everyone else does and just do what makes you happy ![]() ps. i dont like the douche-bags that buy 5.0's and think they hot shit. but theres some guys that have high end sports cars and drive them normally.

tracking a car is expensive. track day insurance, helmets, gear, fluid changes, brake pads, rotors, driving or trailering your car to the track. Needing to take the whole day or weeekend off to go to the track. Not to mention it requires ALOT more skill than drag racing and the chance you will F up and total your car is much higher.
Your average joe can go down to the dealer, finance an auto v8 camaro and just press a pedal at the stop light and feel cool about himself. Doesn't cost anything.

Obviously, top speed on virtually all cars is a little ridiculous. 127MPH for an Accord? Why, so we can do Road Atlanta with a wife, two kids, and slushees for all?
BUT, quickness. THAT is what's fun. Agility, being able to turn that 90 degree corner without slowing. Passing someone with ease. Just the G forces getting on to the freeway can be fun. There's more to a car than top speed. How quick is it to accelerate, brake, turn? And please no more talk about Sparks, I just had my breakfast. Sent from my stupid phone |

I had a guy with a Corvette do this to me last night. He just couldn't understand that I had no interest in racing him from an 75 mph roll on the highway. I accelerated to 80 just so he would take off and leave me alone.
