How important is "fun to drive" for your daily driver compared to noise and comfort? Then what does your FRS do that those wouldn't? The reviews I read when our car came out said it was the best driver's car short of a Carrera 4s, but how important is that compared to the other desires for a daily driver? What about a Carrera 4s? The mileage isn't great, but it's very nice inside and a blast to drive. And PASM makes for a very comfortable ride.

thats what im trying to decide. I'd like both fun factor (manual) and comfort. so the e90 m3 seems like the best solution. the logic 7 sound system is pretty damn good and the car rides very well. the steering is a bit numb though compared to the older m3's like the e36 and e46... but i feel that for a daily it would do nice.

I'd like to try an AMG just because i've never had one before. but the lack of a good manual tranny in my life would drive me nuts.

the porsches like the early 997.1's are just too dated for me. and it doesn't make sense to have a 458 and 911 at the same time. although that would be kind of cool.

Everything I found about tightening the steering up was talking about getting lesser BMWs up to M3 level, not making the M3 better. The gas mileage did not look that great, but the interior quality and sound system might make up for that. Plus 4 doors could come in handy at times.

I'm not a Mercedes fan, so I can't really speak to that. Finding Carreras dated made me laugh though. To me, the Carrera body style is a very classic design, with slight revisions throughout its history. I know I loved the C4S I borrowed for a week. My ideal daily driver would be a 997/991 4S or TT. I agree that it would be a bit unrealistic to have a 911 and a 458 at the same time.

stereo does suck tbh, but for the sake of weight reduction i will leave as is

My air suspension. I bought it. Then it sat in a box for 4 months while I debated installing it. The car is a lease so I didn't want to go too crazy. Plus I didn't want to destroy the feel of the car. Well I'm happy to report the car is still fun to drive with the air suspension.

Supercharger.

I originally wanted the Vortech kit, but after a lot of research I have my heart set on a Jackson Racing kit. Postponing the purchase/install until I'm about halfway through the warranty.

What have I given the most THOUGHT about?"
1 - I have spent countless hours thinking, calculating, drawing, explaining and arguing about light weight crank pulleys and light weight driveshafts and how they contribute very little to the performance of the car compared to their price.

2 - I spent a lot of time figuring out how to use Romraider, ecuflash, and a tactrix. So the most brain power has probably been spent on DIY tuning because I am a computer nerd extraordinaire...(Yet currently dont have ANY tune on my car)

Wheels - looked at thousands, and pshopped any that I couldn't see on a twin using a traditional wheel visualizer.

Winning.

Body/lip/aero kits - still looking for that one, ubersexysmooth, 'invisible' but with a "does that twin have any plastic nit fucking noids suckin' it low" casual onlooker question mark.

Losing.

Dunno about the driveshafts, but the crank pulley makes a palpable difference in driveability (i.e easier to blip throttle for rev-matching, less lag on throttle and building revs).

For me, it was whether or not to install the TRD shifter and MTEC shift springs myself, or pay someone else to do it. Ended up doing it myself and never regretted it.

Coilovers...!

A brand which is a noticeable improvement over stock, budget of $800 used, which I would have no problems reselling when my lease is done.
