Heel catching on floor mats, question - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So I've been having a problem with heel toe downshifting lately where it didn't seem to be an issue before. My right heel catches underneath the mat and then I end up in a nearly dangerous situation trying to get my foot uncaught.

To fix my issue I've thought about getting weathertech mats. Will these help?

thanks for the LOL and yes they will or you can just take the mat out.

Weathertech mats will fix that, because they go up the firewall behind the pedals. I think Weathertech gets slippery when it's wet, so I went with 3D Maxpider. Same concept, different material.

I don't know if the weathertech mats will help you specifically but I heel-toe with mine all day and I'm not wearing a hole in my carpet.

They really are nice.

Have you considered the extended pedal? Not sure this will help but it's out there to try

What about, just don't wear heals when driving.

Just get FRS carpets or EU BRZ carpets. The North American BRZ carpets are not cut to size properly (too small).

Yes, I recommend UK BRZ OEM mats as I have never had any issues with shoe/mat interface.

Yea it's ridiculous how they can't equip the car with proper carpets here. I had to import my RoW set from a Subaru dealer in Germany (cuz LHD).

If one wears proper driving shoes it would prevent digging a hole thru the carpets also.

Cars are cheap in the States for a reason..

Mine didn't even have carpets, I had to buy a set on eBay. Cost like $40 but I got all 4 plus a spare driver mat though it may be RHD, I never checked

If you go Weathertech with an extended pedal like the Cusco, make sure to trim the little "tab" near the gas pedal on the Weathertechs.

Others have mentioned this in older threads, but when it happens to you, you'll know how important it is to shave that thing down (and be quick to clutch in/slap to neutral).

Also, the Weathertechs are a bit slippery for my tastes, and also a bit hard (if you drive with leather shoes, prepare to have your heels get messed up).
