When autonomous automobiles begin to saturate the market and prove to be far safer (which they will), insurance premiums on manually-piloted automobiles will rise to the point to which they exist solely as playthings for the wealthy.

.

I doubt that will even happen in our lifetime given that there many questions about what happen with the Tesla's autopilot accidents recently.

So said the horse people after a few crashes of early horseless carriages.

And those drivers weren't watching Harry Potter movies.

Sir? I believe you are right on that storyline. It sort of reminds me of when Amelia Earhart got lost in the Pacific. It blows my mind away that some theorists believe she was taken in as a prisoner.

I've only taken maybe 20-25 flights in my lifetime but I was listening in on a conversation a few weeks ago.

This guy was complaining about the fact there might be female commercial airline pilots soon. The other guy was pissed and said he would complain to the airlines.

I would say there is too much already invested to let it go.

That might very well change....we probably don't want to decrease the co2 too much according to newest studies. Don't forget the earth has been in the stages between ice ages since about 35 million years ago. By the amount of co2 we are producing we are simply delaying the NEXT ice ages.... Which is actually not that bad for us. We just need to find the balance & more study is needed. 😂

As for topic, I don't think cars will change that much. More hybrid/electric are gonna be on the road indeed but it's not gonna be drastically different, maybe give it twenty years,

When did you supposedly "hear" this? 1955? There have been female airline pilots for 60 years.

I understand Mister. Then Gloria Steinem came out a little later. Apparently, the money was too good so her work had to continue.

No, I actually listened in on this a few weeks ago. This guy and the other guy, who was pretty buff, were really pissed. I almost had a rolling tear because it was so funny.

How's this for size?

I'd take a guess that premiums would go down. Unless a road full of auto cars causes the same amount of accidents anyways.

If all we get in the future is autonomous cars, well, I've got my 3 AE86s so, guess I'll just keep fixing them.

Maybe they were time travelers? Not sure how anybody could be surprised by the subject now really.

Nah, certainly not me. Only one of mine are drivable atm. My first, GT-S hatch, is wrecked and needs some frame work. Took the settlement money and got beyond lucky and found an 87 SR-5 coupe with 89k miles, bought off the original owner. Wasnt even for sale, just happened to be in the right place at the right time. The third is my most recent acquisition. Friend found it in a driveway out in the foothills around Nashville, SR-5 hatch, bought non-running off second owners. Put a different carb in and now it starts but idles at 3500rpm.

http://www.club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12154

Has a few pics. need to upload some of the SR-5 hatch.

Believe what you want to believe. It doesn't make sense as to why "time travelers" would want to preserve certain bodies. (Watch TV or read more books, for those that don't make sense of this).

Had a 1989 240sx in 2003 so it would appear exactly in the OP's elapsed time frame. It certainly did not turn heads at all when I drove it.

Fast forward, a 1997 240sx still garners my attention ignoring the turd engine. I keep an eye out for those still.

The FR-S has something wrong with looking at it head on.

As of right now,I think the FR-S and BRZ are the best looking cars for the price. But that's styling in 2015 and not 2025.

It's like and old CRX. I use to love them in high school. Still wouldn't mind having one,but the style it totally dated, and most importantly, good luck finding a clean on.But that's the real issue. If I saw a totally clean, not rusted out CRX,I would be like "damn!",but as it usually is,I see very unimpressive looking ones.

That's the thing about the twins.I feel like as long as they are in good shape, they shouldn't really lose much appeal in 10 years. But then again, speaking for myself,I'll be over 50 years old in 10 years, and while I'll have fond memories of my FR-S,I more than likely will look at it as a car for a younger generation, but the younger generation will have something newer to clamor on to.

I'll be honest...I think that in ten years from now, both the FRS (86) and the Brz will be exactly 10 years in the future from their original assembly date. Which would mean they would both be ten years old and no longer considered "fresh off the line" But in all fairness I will also say that both of the two models, all the ones that are still on the road at least, will have proven that they are reliable enough to remain operational for ten years. But this is only speculation as that day is still ten years from now and lets be honest, no one can tell the future. But I am curious.

Really funny how this hipster misunderstood Zenki and Kouki. Has nothing to do with before or after minor change. Zenki just means former era and Kouki means latter era.
