2 grand off MSRP isn't difficult at all.

Maybe in your part of the world but not up here north of the 49th.

You obviously missed my post in the “Crazy salesman/car purchase story” thread.

That is true. But you said "out the door" which is an entirely different matter.

I'm also not crazy about the driving off without your keys part of it as well. I park my 86 in the garage and hang my keys inside next to the door. It would be very easy to drive off without the keys, then get stuck somewhere.

Then again, I would just as soon have had roll-up windows since I hardly never put mine down, and its just something to break, so I'm a bit weird like that.

I'm guessing the frameless windows sort of dictate electric windows though.

Should have said MSRP. In any case, my hope is still strong that future Toyota 86's offer equipment ala carte or at least base/stripper 86's giving us the option to choose what we want to pay for. In the end this would lower our out the door costs.

Happened to lots of folks (easy Internet search) not to mention a few deaths from people forgetting to turn the car off with the button.

Most of this will be worked around, but its just another unneeded (for me) gadget that eventually I'll be "forced" to buy because it became standard (which means the cost is included, not that its free). People wonder why cars cost so much, well, there's part of the answer, emissions, electronic gadgets, safety gear, cup holders, they all add cost.

Japanparts listed some trd parts for the facelift. I wish Subaru had the door handle protector too. IMO the TRD front spoiler w/ LED makes the facelift look way better.

Hear hear.
Although, I've since switched to a car with a physical key, and the one thing I miss from the smart key is the ability to just open the door without my key in hand.

I almost had the "left my key somewhere else after starting the car" moment once, when I let a friend test drive the car.
I handed him the key (bad idea), and when I got home (half an hour away), had a brief moment when I realized I didn't grab it back (thankfully, my buddy was smart enough to place my keys in my cupholder).
On the plus side, the car will beep to warn you if you don't have your key.
