Considering how bad the factory rockers are, I don't think you could do worse.

My FR-S will be going under the knife in two weeks, I'm going have I think the 4th or 5th closed deck once its finished at Outfront Motorsports. Thanks for posting this, it helped me find the perfect engine builder in my area.

Is there any reason to update to a closed deck sub 500hp?

Adding to that...

Maybe I missed the answer that was said already, but why do this? Is this stronger than sleeves, for different setups than sleeves, necessary for certain hp goals, the weak link in this motor?

Not saying it's the only reason, but besides supporting higher horsepower I've heard that sleeves have a tendency to drop.

Different way to add strength. Semi closed, closed, sleeved would all help block strength. Sleeved is probably cheapest, idk the price difference between semi closed and closed though.

Theres pros and cons to each style.

Is the combustion chamber a weak point?

No, but going tripple crank hp will cause insane amounts of stress, so its preventative measure.

Any updates on this process of closed deck FA20's??

I wonder if the cylinders get "pushed over" at all by the pressing in process?

Best it's closed since it's a side valve

Side valve ........??

Oh, I suppose you would be correct, if the engine was laying on its side .....

But, most of the time, the Model T drivers tried to keep the "shiny side up" .....

Side valve like a lawnmower engine. Cutting edge technology.
