One of my other cars is a 450HP 05 GTO, its lovely to drive, it handles well, until I get into my GT 86...... then it is a fat wallowing old bus, that has plenty of grunt.
On our tight twisty roads my GT 86 is exceptionally pleasing to DRIVE Most people steer their cars & have no idea how to drive...... I'm very happy with my Twin & the mods I've made to her

I've watched these guys attempt to do car reviews in the past. How did they ever get to be popular?
They are cringe-worthy in their reviews. They don't sound very knowledgeable most of the time, and are not very good at delivering their lines. I don't get their appeal. That said, our cars are not fast. They never claimed to be. They are light, well balanced, RWD cars with two back seats for $24k. Nothing else on the market like it. If you don't get it, that's okay - there are Mustangs, GTIs, etc. out there ready for your cash. I hate that we cannot all enjoy the different kinds of cars that are there. My problem is that if I had a ton of money I'd probably own a Focus RS, a Camaro SS, a BRZ, a Fiesta ST, a Viper, a Cayman, etc. all in the same garage. These are all fantastic cars, and each of them suits me in some way that the others do not. I love that there is so much fun to be had in the automotive world right now. I'd hate for our choices to only be: Miata or Mustang. Where's the fun in that? Last edited by kodos78; 06-25-2016 at 04:54 PM. |

But they still buy the cars. And they can put a big turbo with 10psi with 12.5:1 compression. What could possibly go wrong

Dont think there is another car EVER that has come to market and immediately has had such a huge aftermarket response ..... yes the Mustang aftermarket is bigger but that took years. I dont think all these companies are risking capital for nothing. A stock not messed with BRZ/FRS/GT86 will be a rare find.

a better analogy would be comparing the twins to the ninja 300 motorcycle
it's not a fast bike in a straight line but it is lightweight, nimble and can keep up with the supersport bikes in the corners and is a blast to ride aggressively and redline through the gears...sounds awfully similar to our twins i would say |

My STU 350Z used to push me back in the seat very well. I honestly will miss its torque. However every acceleration moment only happened because, at some point, I had to slow down. Acceleration is great, but not slowing down in the first place is better still. I didn't buy this car for what happens when I hit the gas pedal. I bought it for how little I need to use the brakes.

I love that people underestimate the FRS. I was the talk of the drag strip when I beat a tuned and modded Mazdaspeed 3 by a half car at an import event I went to. The MS3 guy swore up and down I was boosted. and when I popped my hood a lot of people were scratching their head when they saw that the only aftermarket thing was the intake tube. I have way more stories like this from HPDE events, but nobody denies our cars are beasty around a circuit course.
