Anyone here owns or have driven the first gen TSX CL9

Recently sold the car but now craving to jump back into it to complement my 15 FRS one of the few fwd cars that I loved.

You sold a TSX or an 86? Why ask if you already owned a TSX? You want to own both cars? Are you looking for a replacement car after selling your 86?

In any case, my mom bought a 2007 TSX (pre-beak) new nearly a decade ago, still has it and it's on loan to my gf atm, iirc it has about 90k miles, all my experience is with the AT, no MT experience. I have a friend who put many more miles on his until it got totaled a few months back. It's a Japanese sedan with excellent fit and finish, nothing more nothing less. Steering is both light and heavy at the same time, I assume high power steering assist with large amounts of caster, probably trying to inject some Honda 'feel' into their entry level luxury car. The brakes are grabby and awkward, everything feels a bit stiff even after a decade. Vtec is real, the car feels about as fast as the 86 in a straight line, but much less exciting, no contest around the corners, it's a boat and will torque steer if you punch the gas when you're up in vtec while the suspension is loaded up. At the end of the day it's a 4 cylinder Accord.

I wouldn't reccommend it as anything other than a commuter car if it's EXACTLY what you're looking for, it's a regular car, the powertrain is durable but it will not be a 'no maintenance' wonder, especially at over a decade old. Short list of issues:

-With the engine off the battery lasts at most 15 minutes with the radio on and you chillin' out.
-There is a vibration that is felt when lightly braking at high speed i.e. gently slowing from 70 to 65 will result in a pulsing felt in the chassis and through the steering wheel, three sets of pads and rotors changed by the dealership with no resolution, I found something about the driveshafts warping on a forum, but never bothered to pursue it. The vibration goes away as soon as you apply more brake, we're talking like <15% braking force it vibrates, >15% it feels totally normal.
-iirc it had a new alternator and water pump at 60k, rather surprising as those are supposedly lifetime items. I think it was alternator, seems like the electrical system was designed a decade prior and it's overtaxed by the TSX gizmos.
-HID's are bright as fuck and annoying as shit, I've had more headlights flashed at me driving the TSX for maybe 5k miles than any of the like 80k miles I've driven in other cars. But I hate HID's, might be perfect for you. I don't think they've ever been replaced so points for how long they last.
-Navigation horribly outdated, who cares, your phone is better, auxiliary jack standard (it's under the armrest) so the infotainment is bearable whether you get nav or not.
-Shiny Acura badge on the steering wheel in a one in a thousand scenario can blind you.

Here's the maintenance schedule:

The fuel economy is marginally worse than my MT 86 (about 1 mpg less in every scenario), and it also requires premium fuel. If you want it, go for it, if it's a steal it will be a good beater car. But don't expect leagues of fun out of it.

I wouldn't get one, there's more practical cars, more fun cars, and more fuel efficient cars available, if you're really diligent you might find one with all three. The only advantage I'd give the Acura over another practical car in the same price bracket realm is reliability for having a taste of all three performance practicality and economy. For instance: more space and luxury than a sub-compact econo-box. Better fuel economy, lower maintenance costs and reliability than a more performance oriented offering like BMW or GTI. And more 'fun' than a beige-mobile Camry or Taurus.

Lots of cool cars if you have a $10k budget (about what a TSX is worth now), from more practical hot hatches and wagons to just as fun as an 86 used sports cars to super economical high fuel economy beaters (CRZ anybody?)

tl;dr if you dig it, get it, it hits a nice balance of what's needed in a car, but imo there's more interesting options.

Thanks for the tips, oh no I don't intend to see the 86 anytime soon I enjoy driving it. I was debating to jump back into getting a MT one this time around for secondary duty if I need to haul friends and for job as well.
