Yes, some stock cast hypereutectic pistons have been known to fail. However, it’s been proven that these are the result of knock/detonation events. People who run the proper grade fuel with a professional ECU tune in their cars (and don’t go for crazy ass power with the stock internals) have no problems.

Dude the leak obviously states that it comes with melon wheels, bacon seats and banana peel engine with cricket pistons.

Going to be interesting how much the engine and diff change effect performance feel small percent changes we are speaking of. 4100-4300 is nothing.

I'm puzzled as to why they didn't do this across all the markets.....possibly Toyota Europe doing a deal and using up current parts till they clear out 'older' inventory. Really thought Australia would cop that too, seeing as the 86 is priced better (vs competition) in Australia than most markets.

I would say from 3300-4300, but yes the difference in the graph is small. It is not the "hidden" gains we were told about. From my point of view, it is not even worth it to install the manifold and the header in the old models. Of course, I am sure some will do it for the looks (especially the red intake manifold).

Maybe they couldn't cope the Emissions Standards. I can see that Australia has the Euro 5b standards and gets the engine changes, but Europe has the Euro 6b standard and gets nothing.

In fact I suppose it will have a higher cost to keep an inventory of different pistons, intake manifolds & air-intake, fuel systems, headers etc. I think the 1st version wasn't differentiated so much per area.

At least, they deserve an applause for this. It looks that they did the best to provide an actual upgrade.

I may or may not consider the new header. However it seems like the new Header is more EL, than the 2013-2016 header...so I'll probably just keep my 2015 header because i like the little rumble at low rpm. Sounds exactly like my 02 WRX (also stock header)
